Proposed 3-way w/TOR & PHI

Why would Philly blow up their team after showing promise this season and nearly getting to the Eastern Conference Finals?

I live in Philly, the sentiment here is that the playoffs this year were a pleasant fluke and Collins had the team playing way over their capability early in the year. Local press (with alleged "inside" connections believe management does not believe current talent level can do much more than marginally make the playoffs, little upside to that. I tend to agree, so a blow-up to create a better future is likely, if the right deal comes along.

It's going to be comical around here when people realize the Jazz really are going to go into next season with almost the exact same roster, and very little chance of any change coming at the deadline.

Please don't speak in realities.

la la la la i can't hear you la la la

Somewhat intriguing proposal, but I think it's a gamble. I don't have a lot of confidence that any player coming to the Jazz in this trade will ever be better than Millsap -- or even Harris. I'm not sure I completely buy the idea that Millsap is gone after next year regardless.

If #8 is Marshall, why do we think he'll ever be better than Calderon? A little better passing, perhaps, but just as bad (or worse) defense and clearly worse shooting/ability to create own shot. I wouldn't predict it, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Toronto take a pretty substantial jump next year if this trade went through. I'm not sure a late lottery 2013/early non-lottery gives us much (which is where we could be as well with our own pick without Millsap/Harris; and the GS pick). The safest prediction for picks in that range in that draft is mediocrity.

I'd probably be fine if something like this happened, but I wouldn't be overly excited. I think it's a gamble that could pay off, but the strong odds are that it's a fairly lateral move.

Yeah, but we gotta talk about something.....

Doesn't this move also hamstring us in cap space? It would mean, I think, that we can no longer be players in free agency this year. Not that I really expect us to be players, but it reduces options.

Next years free agent class is better. So is the draft class.

I like the trade. I wonder if Philly would want to make it an extend-and-trade with Millsap, or if Toronto would want Iguodala to opt in for 2013-14 before agreeing to this.

Only if we think we can lure someone here I guess... just because we have cap space doesn't automatically makes someone to want to come & play here...

Our break & butter strategy should be building through the draft & trades (OKC model).

OK. We would suck. Great. But we get a pick.

The obsession with getting a pick in this draft is embarrassing.
