I too felt Gobert would eventually develop into what he has (although wasn't expecting DPOY potential this quick & assumed he'd be ready to start closer to next year rather than this year), & questioned the Booker signing as well (more so due to the fact that it essentially meant that we had given up on Evans). That being said, I would much rather head into the future with a frontcourt that projects as elite defensively than whatever a frontcourt of Favors & Kanter or Kanter & Gobert project as. In the long run, we are in a position to have a championship caliber frontcourt, despite the fact that a recent #3 pick has become a non-lottery draft pick, a rotational (at best) euro big, & cap room. That in itself is a major accomplishment, even if we did have a hand in creating some of the circumstances that allowed for that to occur in the first place. Things could be much worse & I really have a hard time seeing how they could have possibly been much better. Having a big man rotation of 3 max (or near max) players really wasn't feasible (or economically responsible), even with a major cap increase.
