Question for Dog Lovers

I got up this morning and went to feed the dogs only to find the 15 year old chocolate lab dead.
I’ve had that dog longer than I’ve had any of my kids. This sucks.

That sucks, man. Did it pass unexpectedly? Glad you got 15 years to spend with him/her, but that can make it even harder, I imagine.

This is my fear about my dogs. I don't like thinking about them passing and I know my big one will probably not live longer than 8-10 years if that.

15 years is old for a dog, especially a lab, so we knew his life was winding down. But this was unexpected. At 9:00 last night he was up and walking around. Then he was gone this morning.
