Quin could decide to end 8 year tenure with Jazz according to Woj and MacMahon

This makes sense. No matter what happens, Quin is going to get lots of money to coach. He's probably waiting to see what kind of roster he's going to be faced with. That said, he's under contract to coach and he should honor his contract. But maybe this is as simple as Quin not wanting to go through a rebuild process.
Everyone is also completely ignoring the fact that he looked completely worn out at the end of the season and just recently had hip replacement surgery. Quin is known to be a workaholic and I could easily see him just being worn out. The draft is in 3 weeks and free agency opens up in less than a month, the plan for who will lead us at HC needs to be in place before either takes place.

The only scenario that makes sense to me is that Quin is waiting to see what happens with the team and he wants to be comfortable with who he will be coaching. The idea that he wants to keep Rudy makes sense as one of the key pieces. And it is easy to imagine him not being in sync with Danny/Ryan. I am sure he wants lots of money but I dont think that is the game going on nor does the narrative that the Jazz want him to quit. Like it or not the Jazz want Quin back.
Quin has had to embrace so many roster changes and a change in ownership/front office that didn't hire him. There's a chance that he's just worn out and wants some time away especially coming off of hip replacement surgery.

Quin only knows how to coach rim protectors and we are about to trade the best rim protector in the game.

He's worried about his longterm money. One season without Rudy, and he might not have a clue how to be competitive.

Trade Quin

Can only trade him if he’s going to coach. He’d likely have a new deal in place with the acquiring team. I don’t see the fit out there unless Pop retires.

I think he kinda wants a year off before going to SA or wherever his new destination is. If he doesn’t want to coach then it becomes a question of does he get paid? Do we let him out of his deal or mothball him like DL (who is still getting his money but not sure he was officially fired… so likely won’t take a new job without a buyout).

I’m ready to be out of the Quin business and if we really need to save some of Ryan’s money then just hire a lesser known coach and they will be cheap… or promote Jensen.

I mean, if we were to trade Quin, what would we get ? A second ? Maybe two if they find some crazy kinky photos of people on the Lakers fo/onwership and DL is there to burn them 2nds ? I'd take that, just not that i'd expect something like that to happen.

For Quin, i also think he may see the situation here for what it is. That the fo may not be giving him the boots now for whatever reason, be it to avoid costs, because they actually believe on him or for his relationship with Donovan, but the current status of the franchise paints a return here being something that would only tank his market value around the league with another meh (to maybe worse) regular season and a bad postseason. And no matter how many years and millions he'd get on a extension now (that should be really good to make it worth the trouble), he'd still be updating his linkedin profile come may 2023.

Nothing going on with Quin is about saving money.

I wish the Quin the best and hope he gets healthy and coaches somewhere else. He did somethings I didn't agree with but he did a lot of good things too. I am not going to bash him like some people.

So some reporter SPECULATES the reason and now people are going with it as the reason. No one knows and perhaps he is just worn out. Eight years with a team is a long time in the NBA. I appreciate him doing it now instead of at the beginning of the season or mid-season.

Maybe Quin's hip replacement also was very hard on him
He may want to take some time off to recover

This man would get like 3 hours of sleep a day and coach on cocaine and coffee. I dont think hip surgery is killing his will that much. He's just smart enough to abandon a sinking ship while he still can.

He isnt just some reporter. He;s widely regarded as the best Jazz beat writer and a guy a lot of people here respect. Sorry he isnt saying something you want to hear so you close your ears and yell loudly.
