Hey, you forgot mine!
Might have been that I can only quote a certain number of posts and I exceeded that amount.

Just kidding I left yours out cause **** you!

Two pages of posts and no one has given even one reason why Snyder deserves this. Snyder's record in Utah is .476. Corbin put up a .434. Amazing improvement there. I do realize it doesn't take much to impress a lot you (see Exum's rookie season, for example).

Here's a reason:
If they didn't extend him he would probably go on crazed murder spree. He was extended for public safety reasons.

So you think a coaches record in his first two years should be the one and only deciding factor. Interesting.
I wonder what Jerry Sloan record was to start his career off.

Oh it was .366, .549, and .373 with the Chicago bulls.
How stupid were the jazz to ever give that bum a shot.

Popvich winning % in his first year was .266. What a loser.

The jazz didn't fire corbin because of his winning percentage.

Btw you are wrong about your statement anyway.

See the below post

No-brainer IMO.

Quin is one of the up and coming coaches in the league. Sure he has some work to do including late game management, but his knowledge of the overall game, development of players, and dedication make this an easy decision for the Jazz.

I wanted to be succinct and positive, but I wanted to say that at some point this honeymoon has to and will end.

Teams need to give coaches a chance. Snyder deserves more time.

Reason #1.

38-44 in his 1st year as head coach during a season in which player development was the primary focus, one of our better players (Kanter) was traded for no immediate help in return, & our most experienced players (besides Novak who was traded) were entering their 5th years in the league.

Reason #2

19-10, 99.4 pts allowed per 100 possessions after trading Kanter. It's amazing how good this team was defensively to close out last season, not to mention finishing 19-10 with a rookie PG who contributed nearly nothing offensively as well as having little to no depth behind the starting lineup.

Reason #3

40-42 this season despite our starting PG missing the entire year, our 6th man missing 51 games, our starting C missing 21 games, & our starting PF missing 20 games.

Reason #4

Player development. This is the main reason he was extended IMO. The improvements that our core players have made during his tenure thus far has been extremely impressive.

Reason #5

Continuity. We're in the midst of an extensive rebuild & this team has far exceeded it's talent level during Snyder's first 2 seasons as head coach. IMO he has definitely earned the opportunity to continue coaching this team.

To judge Snyder (or any coach for that matter) on W/L % alone without taking the talent level, situation, etc into consideration is misleading.

I kind of wish they would fire him and hire Frank Vogel. If Vogel doesn't get a head coaching job, they should immediately offer him an Associate Head Coach position.
Why? Vogel can't coach offense very well. He wouldn't add much to the team.

I wouldn't have extended him. The jazz had him on a team option for 2 more years already. I don't think he's earned a new contract. His first year was great
Last year was very mediocre. Many of the Jazz's players didn't improve at all in fact I'd say Gobert, Booker, Burks, Burke, Favors, ingles, Johnson, may have actually regreased.
At least he's not Tyrone.

Yeah, no reason to lock Snyder 2 years ahead regardless of how good he appears to be.

The reason the jazz extended him? Watch the man coach.
Go to games and watch him and his interaction with his players and how they respond to him in those interactions. Watch on tv when a player comes out and he coaches them as they take their seat and how they respond to the coaching.
Even at summer league games and scrimmages you can see that he has command of the team and that the players buy in to him.

At games during timeouts and in between quarters.... Dude is always working, always coaching. He has a great work ethic and strives to get better constantly. He believes in his guys and they believe in him.
His assistant coaches all respect and like him too.

That's why they extended him.

Best post in the thread gotta rep.

Great coaching doesn't always result in wins.

Not only what Fish said, which I totally agree with, but also it signals to the players that they NEED to buy into what the coach is doing because the coach ain't goin' no where. This is his team and you can either get on the bus or you can walk.

I'm very happy the Jazz got this done.

I also think Snyder only had a year left on his contract, but I'm shooting from the hip. I remember a 3-year deal.

I'm happy for Quin and happy for the team. This deal makes so much sense. Extending him early give Snyder the confidence to continue to coach and develop the way he has been. A coach with 1 year left on his deal may start to coach for his next job....that's what Corbin did, he started the vets because he needed more wins to add to his resume, and by doing so he hurt the development of the team.
This allows Synder to not feel tempted to take any short cuts with the team and 'baking the cake'.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Corbin chased wins for his resume and screwed this team over.
