Rate the Off-season.

What more could he have done? Please specify. Did you read the drivel Gordon wrote about Stevens? The two are in love with each other. There is ZERO, NADA, ZILCH, that could have kept those lovers apart.

And even IF Hayward had said "trade me to Boston" last summer, what would Ainge have given Utah? Maybe a 2nd round pick? He knew he could get Hayward for free this summer. Why give up assets? And can you imagine the outrage by fans? And criticism on this board? The same posters who are slamming DL now, would have picked him apart for not giving Gordon a chance to decide. For not allowing a playoff run to turn his heart to Utah. And for getting a terrible return on a trade. DL was in a no-win situation.

Maybe the only thing DL didn't know was the depth of the Stevens/Hayward emotional bond. And he may not have known Gordon had zero respect for his current teammates. Ingles was supposedly his best friend. The team was supposedly very close. Yet Hayward only mentions Jeremy Evans in his manifesto? It's no wonder Ainge likes Hayward. They're two of the coldest men on the planet.

In that case you trade him to a different team and let them eat it. Any assets are better than none, IF YOU KNOW WHAT IS COMING. That is the problem. I am sure Hayworthless sat on the decision, lead the team along, and then dropped it on them like a bombshell. You don't take a contingent to San Diego to sit in the guy's front room if you know for a fact you have no chance. He was a weasel about the whole thing.

And suffer the backlash from sponsors, advertisers and fans? The ONLY way Utah could have made a trade is if Hayward went public a la George. Then I agree, the team does EXACTLY what Indiana did. OKC is willing to take a chance they can change George's mind about LA.

But Hayward was a unique situation. Every team was aware of the Stevens/Hayward bond. I'm really not sure anyone would have given much more than a late 1st (e.g a playoff team thinking the addition of Hayward might give them a chance against GS).

But that's ASSUMING Utah knew. And their actions showed they really didn't. Otherwise the draft and even free agency on the 1st or 2nd probably would have been different.

We were lose scoring because of pace, not because of offensive inability. Point per possession-wise, we were 12th best.

Doesn't matter what we were. It's what we ARE. Our offense will struggle, there's no doubt.

How snarky can I be? The most Utah-esque player in the NBA just walked away from a max contract to play in Utah. Trey Burke and Trey Lyles are taking turns mocking the Jazz on Twitter and Tony Bradley looks like he is about 3-years away from being 1 or 2 years away.

I think everything is going well.

I think that is reasonable. I do think he could have done more but I am not sure it would have helped. There were still attainable players that might have convinced him to stay. I give him an F if Hayward actually requested a trade last off season and they held on to him. The Jazz sound like they were pretty confident in re-signing Hayward. I wonder what Hayward said to them and what they knew. Some people claim to know he was leaving but those might have been pure guesses that just happened to be right. Based on what the Jazz did with Hayward they must have thought they had the best chance of signing him over any other team.
Hood made a comment yesterday saying that GH hid his real intention real good during that meeting. I don't think anyone really knows how he thinks. He is one who skirts around controversy though. So I doubt he told the Jazz to trade him. Just kept quiet till he was UFA

Awe come on now. Morey would give his left nut and anything he could of got his hands on. Philly may have took a chance too.

It likely will. But you seemed to be over-exaggerating the extent of the struggles by pointing out that we were "ALREADY WERE ONE OF THE LOWEST SCORING TEAMS IN THE NBA LOL". Hell, it was such an important part of your point that you even put it in all caps, so I just thought it was worth adding context.

Seems pretty good

Mitchell seems great
Bradley seems good
Did a favor for a well-respected college baller in NWG
Turned a 1st RD pick into a starting PG
Re-signed a good player who wants to play for Utah
Couldn't much help Hayward signing with Butler

The further we get from this event the more warts appear on Hayward's image as a teammate and a person. Yes some of it is sour grapes; but it's also looking more and more that Hayward was ready to bolt and this was apparent for some time. Between Locke's comment last week that someone in the Celtics FO told him a year and a half ago that Hayward to Boston was a done deal and now Booker's comment about Hayward wanting to leave and not be "the man" makes me wonder if the FO went through this dog and pony show just to save face with the fans and the media. So then Rubio was just a rebuild move disguised as a gesture to appease Hayward and they re-signed Ingles for no other reason than he's a decent player who wants to be in Utah.

My thoughts exactly. I'm wondering if the FO couldn't get a straight answer from him because he didn't want to get DWilled of to Brooklyn. If that happens he doesn't have Snyders system to make him look as good as he has.

Losing Wayward sucks. But if he didn't really wanna be here, there isn't anything more they could have done to keep him. For me, the salve for that wound is Mitchell. Really excited to see him develop. And then there's Rudy. I was beginning to feel last season like this is his team anyway; and he actually wants that job.

I'm really happy about the Rubio pickup.

I think the Jazz FO have done everything they could, but had their hands tied waiting on this flubbed "decision." I do worry about our spacing and the 4 spot for sure. But the fat lady hasn't sung yet. B+ so far.
