Woman from the Bahamas won the womens 400m run. She dove and as a result beat out an American for the gold. She is getting some crap over it and I don't understand.
She didn't break any rules so why not? Our own racer (finished 2nd) should have done so.

She was in the lead and would have been passed if she hadn't done the dive (which was more of a stumble). She was completely out of gas. Diving over the line was her only hope and it worked. Good for her. I can see how it would become a problem if everyone started diving, though. And I was halfway expecting them to DQ her for going into the other lane.Wasnt she in the lead and thought the USA women was getting close? I was under the impression that the dive slowed her down and got her a worse time but still won. And all I have heard is compliments towards her.
atrocious attendances at the track and field ... geez
I'm surprised they don't give away the unsold tickets at the last minute just for the visual. Not only would the stadium look and sound good, but they'd earn a bit of goodwill with the locals.Well Brazil isn't the most popular country for tourists with health and security concerns looming over the games in advance. And ticket prizes aren't sustainable for local population, who even stretch their budgets by only attending events with Brazilian participation.
Yeah. They did one of those little vignettes on her which I fast forwarded over. Now I'm kind of wishing I hadn't deleted it.Also, the dude who won the 400 meters and broke the world record (I think from South Africa) has a coach who's some 74 year old grandmother. I think that's so awesome.
Oz is easily the 2nd best team I've seen thus far

This article says that they haven't reduced prices because the profitability of the games is dependent on ticket sales. It also says there have been transportation and security delays that have frustrated people who want to attend. It also says that the city tried to buy tickets to give away for free but they were blocked by political opponents who felt that would be buying votes.afaik they're doing that. But ppl still don't wanna come just for the sake of watching a random event.
