Put it this way. Same source last year said Boston was in play for Durant/Horford. This time around he is basically saying, done deal. In play VS done deal.

Mannix also said Hayward would be a really good third option for the Celtics, but even left it open for fourth option depending on how quickly Fultz develops.

I'm planning on Hayward leaving, so will George Hill. And just to get a jump on everyone: Favors and Rudy will leave too someday.

I think that's why he wants Hayward, because it would signal they are trying to win in the immediate future, meaning keeping IT on long-term might be more of a thing?

It's either sign Hayward or look at a bunch of rookies coming in to take your spotlight and move the timeline of competing past your prime/time with Boston.

He won't in a year unless he takes a significant pay cut. Ainge is ruthless... Hayward should know once he signs he's an asset who will be moved for more value when/if possible.
