The Jazz could pick up a young replacement for Paul Millsap to back up the PF spot. Robinson is a decent rebounder and defensive player out on the floor. He'll score a bit too if he's set up well. This would complete our front-court rotation. He's another guy, like Favors, who hasn't gotten much chance to play. He's on rookie scale at $3.3M/year, and he fits with our youth movement.

He'd get about 20 - 25 minutes per night, especially if Kanter or Favors get in foul trouble.

C: Kanter/Gobert
PF: Favors/Robinson

I think the jazz should do it.
There is really no risk involved and you dont have to give up much if anything.
He contract is cheap and short and he is a backup.

Sap is going to be at least 3x more expensive, and we're talking about a back-up for Favors here.

New Jersey traded Favors and a bunch of other assets because they were chasing DWill. Likewise, Houston will sell low on Robinson to chase Dwight. This is a good opportunity for a team like Utah.

I would like Robinson but the thought I can't ignore is that the Jazz are taking a much needed cap off of Houston's hands.

If that is the case then the Jazz need to demand a 2014 pick out of it. If the Jazz help anyone with cap space issues it should cost them a 2014 first round pick. I know that the Rockets didn't have a pick in 2013 so I'm not sure that they can but I have an idea.

Basically the Jazz can have the option to make the pick that the Rockets have if the want it and in return the can buy the pick for cheap or give up their own 2014 second round pick. Is that even legal?

I would say hell ya but I am at church.

I don't care if Houston gets Howard. how many times has Howard been in the nba finals?

let's get Terrance jones too.

is Houston trying to do a twin towe thing with Howard and asik?

Would you trade a 2014 first round pick (top 10 protected) to Houston for Robinson?

This was my inspiration for asking this question:

"@Utah_JazzNation: OK ... try this again.
Trade Tomic & protected 1st rnd 2014 pick (protected to 10 pick) to Houston for Thomas Robinson.
Does HOU say yes?"

I think Houston will probably get Dwight regardless of anything we do. We may as well benefit from it.

There's also a chance that he'll go to Dallas.

Houston would say hell yes, but the Jazz shouldn't offer their 2014 pick in any way.

If the Jazz can pick up TRob for cheap, they should do it. Kanter can hit 20 footers. It's true Robinson is limited offensively though.

There's got to be a reason no one took Robinson during the draft, yet teams like Denver were willing to give up #27 for 46 and cash. TRob's value is really down right now. That's why it's a buy-low opportunity.

Maybe it's just because teams don't want to see Dwight end up in Houston.

Value is low because TRob is on his way to being the bust of the draft. He shouldn't have been drafted that high and showed little progress in terms of developing his offensive skills.
