What's new

Round 1 Game 2 Utah Jazz at L.A. Clippers 8:30pm MDT

I feel like I'd normally pick the Clips considering we've already got the split, but I can't shake the feeling that LA already feels like their backs are against the wall and are gonna come out super tight while the Jazz come out relaxed (in a good way). I honestly feel like we leave LA up 2-0 and Friday night in Vivint is the last stand of the LA Clippers.

I want to believe.

One of the bigger issues is that The Clippers are in reaction mode rather than aggression mode. They have had 3 days in order to plan for what the Jazz are going to do. The lineup the Jazz gave them is new for them, while we can still use the same Clippers scouting report. They aren't going to throw a new wrinkle offensively, which, for a well coached team, like the 90's Jazz would be a good thing for them. I'm not sure the Clippers are a well coached team. They get chippy and frustrated when things don't go their way. Chris Paul has never shown he can remove himself from the script and dominate in the Playoffs, as good as he has been.

The Clippers will come out fired up, but will wilt if they face much adversity. All the Jazz need to do is hit open shots, which will be available with our misdirection and an amped up Clippers squad.

I see no reason why Joe Johnson doesn't continue to have a good series. How do the Clips defend him?

My guess is LAC comes out like gang busters tonight. If The Jazz can withstand the initial flurry then that should put LAC on their heels for the rest of the series - even if they manage to win Game 2.

actually at home clippers always come out with 3rd qtr flurries

Yes! Thank you! About time the other believers stood up!!!

Jazz gonna play physical D and loose on O. The 3s begin to fall and CP3 pushes it and the Jazz shut down the rest of the team. Game over 2-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been saving this story for today's game thread.

My first ever Jazz game was at the Delta Center during the 2003-04 season. It was on December 5th, 2003 and we went as a present for my birthday later that month.

The starting line-up we rolled out that day?

PG - Raul Lopez
SG - DeShawn Stevenson
SF - Matt Harpring
PF - Andrei Kirilenko
C - Greg Ostertag

I remember riding on a train that took you to the arena. It was just me and my dad. We sat across from this old lady and she absolutely loved Ostertag. She wouldn't stop talking about him the whole ride.

We had really good seats. There were gme pamphlets on every seat that featured the one and only DeShawn Stevenson on the cover. I vividly remember the blimp going around the arena and dropping free tickets. That was so amazing to me as a kid.

We only allowed 67 points to the Clippers that night. Harpring led us to the win with 20 out of our 86 points. Now he is the team announcer coincidentally.

I still have the pamphlet along with my throwback purple jerseys of Kirilenko and Stevenson with the iconic mountains.

Here is the full box score from that game:

Good vibes only. I have a good feeling about tonight. I hope everyone is having a great day so far.

I want to see us demoralize them with a hailstorm of threes. This game is for Rudy. The pressure to return gets dialed back immensely if we can get this game.

I remember my first actual Jazz Game was a playoff game against the Clippers in 1992. We won. The only other real big thing I remember was actually seeing most of the Clipper players hanging out at the mall. I somehow assumed that NBA players did stuff much cooler than that. But, then I figured, "Well, they ARE the Clippers. . ."

Everyone (Jazz fans) on twitter is blowing up about Kane Fitzgerald. Sadly, it's going to be the Jazz vs Clippers and the refs tonight. We are going to lose out on calls tonight for sure. Kane straight hates us

A couple more thoughts:
- Doc is already commenting about the off season, probably not a good sign for LA.
- Hayward and Hood both commented on how boring their two days off were. It might have been long enough for us to lose some momentum.

Anyone know who the officials are yet. Little worried about that. Not the group who reffed the Grizz Spurs game last night I hope

A ref that can be bought is a powerful tool...
