Round 1 Game 2 Utah Jazz at L.A. Clippers 8:30pm MDT

Honestly, thought the Jazz would lose by 20 with all the emotion of the game one win and Clippers blitzing us. Did better than I thought.

Wish Favors was healthy/ier.

Blowout may have been better. I hope they didn't expel too much emotional energy in the loss. Don't want them to be flat at home... (Surely they won't)

I was impressed they never let the game get out of hand at all and never let the Clippers go on a massive run. But at the same time I thought the Jazz would have a massive like 10-0 run at some point and it never came.

clippers played a perfect game and barely beat us. no rudy in LA. Let's humiliate them in Utah. Our fans are ready

Hardly man. They shot 30% from the 3pt line and got 8 FT's despite constantly attacking the paint. If you strictly look at the boxscore the Jazz got pretty lucky to only lose by 8.

Yes, I kept expecting a run. I was also expecting someone to make a big play, or show some emotion.

I thought the officiating was decent, especially for a Kane F. game.

It was okay. There was a point where they called two touch fouls in the first quarter and put them in the penalty... they were calls they could call at any moment. I had just watched Favors get put down and had been watching them wrap up Hayward. Maybe that particular sequence bugged me.

I just wish the refs would punish the clippers more for arguing every call. Doc is terrible too... I love watching him react to an obviously correct call. The call Blake got a tech on was hilarious... Jordan not only hit Hayward he grabbed his arm... I just can't stand the constant complaining... watching them throw toddler tantrums because the ref doesn't give them the ball fast enough.

Part of the reason they only got 8 FTs is because the Jazz gave literally no resistance on a huge portion of the Clippers dunks/layups.

Weird thing is for how hobbled Favors is, he's still much better than Withey out there right now.

I think the Jazz need to just do some simple high PNR with Hayward or Hill. Get them going downhill against Jordan. Hopefully they can get past him and force the Clippers perimeter players to actually dig in off our shooters.

That sounds good.

So does using those 6 Bolomboy fouls on DAJ. And doing that while playing some 5-out sets to get DAJ out of the paint.

Still, I would actually say the refs favored teh Jazz tonight just based on my memory of keeping track of questionable calls. They gave the Jazz a lot of "bang-bang" plays that could have gone either way.

Maybe, but I don't think it was luck the Clips shot just 30% from 3, Jazz seem to make a concentrated effort to stay home on the shooters and run them off the 3pt line.

Biggest difference from game 1 it seemed to me was favors performance. Everyone else held steady.

We should have added a veteran rebounder before the deadline. Isn't that apparent?

Exactly. Clippers could play like that sleep walking. And I'm not seeing some secret formula that the Jazz could use that could lead to reliable offense/paint defense.

Hayward could play better but other than that winning games sans Rudy will be tough.

That being said I'm now convinced that we are a better team when at full health. If he is somehow back for game 3 then it's on.

A lot of the night we just let them dunk though. We didn't commit the preventative foul.

I don't know if it's luck... they couldn't shake completely free. I was encouraged by the game tonight. Team had every opportunity to lay down. One more shot goes in here or there and it turns the tide.

Yes, but they didnt play a "near perfect game". Still plenty of room for improvement from both teams in terms of playing a 48 minute game.
