Rubio traded to Jazz

I have the Jazz at about $111 mil in salaries if Stayward. Ingles likely puts them into the LT which is @ $119 mil. They would have 14 players and a roster spot for the 2nd rounder. Ingles at $11 million and the 2nd round pick at the minimum of just over 500k puts them only 3 million into the LT.

By Diaw. By Hill. Thanks for the good times.

Honestly, do you really think DL is going to risk losing Hayward, just to save the difference between Hill and Rubio?

That's expected from Cy, but not you. This is an insurance policy because they are worried about not being able to re-sign Hill.

Not some cheap *** decision to save money and risk losing Gordon.

Give me a break. You're the one insisting they should cow tow to Hill and break the bank for him. This is DL playing hardball, like I said he would.

OK< I'm done moaning about this one. I apologize for being so pessimistic. I hope I got it out of my system and I'm ready to support our new player. I did it with Lyles, I'm gonna do it with Ricky too.

For what it's worth Ricky is a tremendous passer and defender. Hill actually had kind of a down year defensively last year, so Ricky will probably be an obvious upgrade there. The thing that's coming to my mind from the get go is - we need to change our offensive system. I can't see how it will work with Rubio. We will be once again a point guard dominated team. I don't know what it mean. Hopefully Quin has some idea about how to restructure the offense. Those handoffs and UCLA cuts are probably over... or at least a bit limited. This is another thing I'm worried about - Quin and DL will have to sell Hayward on a completely different system they haven't even tried implementing yet.

We might also be wise to speed up the offense and take advantage of early transition opportunities. It would be such a waste if we cannot utilize Ricky's vision and passing in transition.

BTW for the Milos fans - Ricky can be almost as fun as Milos with his creativity.

Ricky is one of the leaders in deflections and gathering loose balls. We control the point of attack and the paint.

This also very well allows us to re-sign at least one core player next year if not two now. Signing Hill to 20-25M per would've made that extremely difficult.

Maybe Lindsey approached Hayward about that and Hayward understands and would prefer say Rubio and Hood to just Hill.

Also, regarding your post about the financial decision to do this. It's honestly tough to disagree with this and it angers me when I think about that ******** press conference the Millers held when announcing putting the team into a trust (or something) and thus putting more money back into the team. All ******** unless we somehow also sign Hill which seems insanely unlikely now OR we spend more money elsewhere on top of Hayward and Ingles (should we retain them).
That press conference was not about the jazz spending more, it was about the jazz staying put in utah.

I have us around $125M. If Ingles gets a salary that starts at $11M.

Will do... I'm also supposed to get back with you when we pay a bunch of luxury tax... Maybe you just get back with me instead...

I would bet large sums of money that George Hill ain't walking through that door. Whether we "try" or not.

I have consistently said they would and should try to stay under the tax this year, because they will for sure be over starting next year, if Hayward re-signs. So yeah, I expect them to make moves to stay under the tax. However, those moves will come AFTER Hayward makes his choice. With all the reports of Hayward wanting Hill back, I'm sure DL chose to risk losing Hayward to make cost cutting moves now?<massive eye roll>

Is there some reason the Jazz can't still sign Hill? They stagger the minutes, and Hill can play off the ball...
Hill is still a free agent and can still be signed by the Jazz

Wait, thought you were super excited about Hill playing the two and having 4 playmakers on the floor. lol

Hill is gone. And he's better than Rubio.
