Rudy Gobert be our Tim Duncan?

Will Rudy Gobert be as good as Tim Duncan?

At this point, I can see Rudy being as good as Duncan in every aspect of the game except for scoring. He will actually be better than Duncan at some aspects: blocks, steals.

I don't know where he will go with his offense, but he will have to work very hard here, not only on skills but understanding. He's a defensive savant with respect to his knowledge there.

If I had to guess, I would say maybe one or two years at 17-18 pts./ game, which is still damn good, just not Duncan. So his prime: 17, 12, 3.5 ast., 3.5 blks, 1.2 stls, 58%, 70%.

That's on the low end of what I would predict. But thank you for at least giving Gobert more credit than most of the haters on this board.

I also see Rudy as being the kind of guy to take less money to build a winning team. Kid is competitive, hard working and a leader. The Jazz should expend every possible resource to help him reach his potential. Have him work with hall of famers across the board - Malone, Olajawan, Robinson, Mutumbo, Pippen, etc. These guys are from a different era, but he has that same transcendence potential that they all did.

Also, the Utah Jazz need to invest in a top of the line "Big Man" coach, in the same way that I'd like to see them poach Chip Engelland to improve our team shooting mechanics. The coaching staff is a good way to get an edge in a place like Utah that doesn't necessarily scream "Free Agent" destination. When you're looking at possibly investing somewhere around $40 - $50 million dollars per year into the front court, it seems prudent to spend a fraction of that on the best damn coach you can get to work with that group. Just my opinion.

^^Yep, Rudy will be on the Mount Rushmore of centers with those other guys when it's all said and done.

Iawtp

Not sure he'll ever average that many assists though. But he is a good passer.

See Siro, reason I did this thread is to see just how big of Gobert homers jazzfanz are cuz I was seeing ridiculous expectations. The amount of homerishness even exceeded my expectations.

Please bring your negativity back to the Laker board that you came from.

So because his opinion is different then yours he's not allowed to be here? How is that being negative? Basically you don't want to here any opinion different then your own opinion. You might want to give that lakers board a try.

It amazes me too. Duncan led his team to an assload of championships, and he is considered one of the greatest players of ALL TIME. I'm a big fan of Gobert. He is an elite defender, and I fully expect him to eventually become decent on the offensive end. But better than Duncan? I suppose anything is possible, but being better than Duncan puts Gobert in the conversation for the best player ever. I will look forward to this thread's resurrection in a few years.

Who is hatin doe? I don't get it. Who are those hatters you are referring too. I don't see nobody hatn on Rudy especially not here. So who are those haters?

Seriously? Go talk to all those people who think Rudy won't be as a good as Bill Russell or Duncan.

The Gobert train is leaving the station, so get on board, or stay hatin. We aint comin back for any of you.

Rudy needs to bulk up more and develop some offensive moves to increase his confidence and aggression on the offensive side. His game isn't that much like Duncan. Maybe Alonzo Mourning though

LMFAO!!! Comparing Rudy to that clown. Looks the train just left the station without you bro.

The number of people who have OVERestimated Rudy is a pretty small group if it even exists at all. Most of the work has been on the underestimating side. . .
