Rudy to sign deal with Jazz

Yeah but point is even if they made the playoffs Baldwin would've been on the board and if they had Schroder their hand wouldn't have been forced to move for Hill.. the team would be much younger as a result and have an extra 4 year restricted rookie with upside.

George Hill is certainly going to be asking for at least 14 a year.. so the $$ lines.. (same for Chris Johnson and Harrison Barnes vs Diaw and Iso Joe)

Well when life gives you lemon you make lemonade....

The Schroeder/Burke mistake had already been made... I don't think it's productive to go back and revisit that anymore.

If you were in DL's shoes would you have gone with Hill or Baldwin (and risk losing Hayward in perpetual rebuilding)

Whatever dude.

You think it's a joke, but even here in New Zealand I'm telling you, it's really serious. I mean, I see them everywhere, even kids as little as 5 and 6, being put into these big rooms and being forced to run and jump and shoot, essentially being trained to one day move over to the states and take these guy's jobs. They're getting trickier too, some of them will sneak in before their training is finished and attend an american university to trick the employers into thinking they're one of you. It's not just us either, Australia, Europe, even the seemingly harmless Canadians are taking you for fools.

Stay woke man.

Are Joe Johnson and Boris Diaw really much better than Harrison Barnes tho? Thats my question.

Who cares, regardless maxing Harrison Barnes would be stupid. Joe Johnson for 2 years $22 million is a bargain in today's NBA.

Joe Johnson is much better than Harrison Barnes in terms of creating for himself and others.

I'm just happy it got done, what was the point in waiting? We knew he was going to get multiple max offers so no need to wait for that to occur. We get a super slight discount which may or may not really help us out in the future, but more so it just further shows our commitment to Rudy and the rest of the roster that the focus is keeping this team in tact and doing their best to win now.

So this means we'll have 3 near max players soon. I don't remember what the math looked like, but i don't see how the Jazz can resign their top players and keep the team intact.

Not getting stuck with the player option in the fourth year from matching a contract is a pretty big deal as well. Player options in general just suck if there is any way to avoid them.

You trade a signed player if need be. People will trade for a signed player whereas an unsigned, or soon to be unsigned player, has almost no value to a team.

I'm still hanging on for Hayward to sign his new contract and get that. I think when you think of Utah you think of Hayward more so than Gobert.

Yeah, but if more doods where Gobert jerseys, people will associate him with Utah more. Plus, Gobez is more interesting to me.

I guess it's also what you do with the jersey? If you're gonna play basketball with it and you're a guard, it would 'look' funny wearing Gobert's jersey.

But with Hayward because he plays SG, SF, PF (potentially), one could argue it's a more versatile jersey to have.

Similar to the Whiteside deal (Whiteside has been amazing so far this season). Jazz wanted to keep Rudy and they made it happen; maybe they were afraid someone would offer him the max and so they inked him now to show good faith. Based on this and the DeAndre deal the Jazz didn't underpay for Rudy but guys like Whiteside, Jordan and Gobert are prized commodities in the league and so it's a win.
