Rudy to sign deal with Jazz

Too bad they drafted Trey Burke over Dennis Schroder.. These extensions would be even more glorious. His contract is a great bargain for ATL moving forward.

Then the Jazz make the playoffs last season and use the 1st rd pick on Wade Baldwin (whos physical profile is very similar to Hill's and he looks like a competent defender already)

sign Harrison Barnes and keep Chris Johnson instead of Joe Johnson + trading for Diaw..
Team would be better and much younger.

Another epic performance from your boy yesterday 10 pets 0 assists for Max Barnes

Yeah, that's why signing max extensions isn't always a no brainer. If the player is willing to take a discount for security then yeah, it is a much easier choice.

If you are absolutely sure that a restricted agent will sign with you, then yeah. If they sign elsewhere and you match it could just as easily screw you with the last year player option. Better to control your own fate in most cases except that one throwaway "everyone has a max slot" year.

Fantastic deal. Ok, I didn't even read the amount but I don't care. He's an elite interior defender, he's making efforts to improve his offense (just his improvement on FTs alone is great), and he gives a **** and gives effort out there. I'm thrilled he'll be here in his prime.

They were absolutely sure, he told them as much.

You can't compare it to the Hayward situation because DL was playing hardball.

I'm glad, but these amounts made my head swim.

I get it, but on the other hand it makes no difference to me if it goes to Gobert or the Millers, who are way more obscenely wealthy. Wish some of it were going to me, but I'm not like good at basketball, sigh.

I agree. $100,000,000.00 is a TON of coin. Happy for him for sure but there is just mad money in sports. But you know Rudy will work as hard as ever no matter how much he makes.

Yeah, that's the other great thing about Gobert. I'm not saying he could never slack off, but I just don't see it and would be stunned to see it. He wants to be great.

I guess it's also what you do with the jersey? If you're gonna play basketball with it and you're a guard, it would 'look' funny wearing Gobert's jersey.

But with Hayward because he plays SG, SF, PF (potentially), one could argue it's a more versatile jersey to have.
You are one weird guy.

Glad they got the deal done. He is worth it. Complete game changer on one side of the floor and desire to be great.

I agree with everyone saying the right move was to get it done now.

He is GREAT defensively, there is no question about that.

But for Hassan Whiteside signed for the same money and he gives you so much more offensively.

I wonder how much work he does offensively during the offseason? I haven't seen much improvements unfortunately year-to-year.

The options are pay this or don't and Rudy walks. You pay him.

Rudy looks like he's working and improving his game. I just hope he doesn't ak47 the jazz. Kirilenko screwed the jazz for years with his max deal.

I'd take Gobert over Whiteside every time.

Its funny and sad to compare this to our lives. I have to go in once a year and write down all of my signifigant contributions to maybe
get a %1 raise. lol. a whole 500 dollars for the year! I wish I could bring in an agent ;-)

So true. The player AK was before, and after was night and day. The pre-deal AK was such a game changer, and so much fun to watch. The post deal AK was trying to watch someone change who they were, and not be as good at it. He never again changed the game as much as he did before he maxed out.

I think what DL said in the interview was positive. The talked with Rudy, and they dont want him to change his game because of the deal. We signed him for defense, rebounding, and dunks. They agreed he will try and get better with those skills rather than change his game.

Giving up on players 3 games into the season is ridiculous. Almost everyone has done it.

Lots of up ripped Dante Exum and Trey Lyles to shreds early in their rookie seasons.

It's not even the worst of it. Some people gave up on Joe Johnson after the preseason. tlekhein gave up on George Hill after the first preseason game.
