Rudy Gobert is finalizing a four-year, $100M-plus contract extension with the Utah Jazz, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Per Woj.

Didn't expect it to get done, but glad it did!

I like taking care of this now. If it's 4 years it preserves our 5year deal.

I hope Gobert is a Jazz lifer.

Takes a slight discount from the max.

I only like it if it's less than the max. Next to no reason to give him the full max this early.

Depends... this year goes bad and instead of signing with us he shops for the Hayward max with options and trade kickers.

That said he'd sign for less overall and doesn't have nearly the motivation to do it.

Anyone know what the max he can get is... it is likely only a few million off of the 101-102 number being floated right?

This would also be a sign that management is committed fully to keeping Hayward and feels good about him staying, because if he left and we have this extension in place we have no cap flexibility.

I wonder if this means anything about the FO's confidence in resigning Gordon Hayward in the summer, because they just cut off any and all flexibility they might have had in case Hayward leaves.

I bet Gobert waited for Adams to agree to his contract and was like "Give me a million more"...
