I agree completely. This should ONLY be done to those offenders who volunteer for it. The ones who don't should be shot in the back of the head.
 
While pedophilia is horrible, horrible crime, i don't like this. Install a permanent tracking device or impose stiffer jail times, but human mutilation is just barbaric method of crime prevention.
 
I have no problem with it. If you look up the states that do practice CC (chemical castration) it is only mandated after the 2nd conviction.

That being said, it is a relatively benign process. The perp gets a hormone shot once every 3 months. The hormone basically increases the estrogen level thereby causing a twofold effect. The ***** does not work properly and it greatly reduces the desire for sex. In many cases it eliminates the desire all together. There are some side effects such as gynecomastia (increased breast tissue which is treatable) & weight gain but I'd think most perps would take this option as opposed to being in an 8' x 10' cell for 20+ years.

For those bitching about the prison system I'd think you'd be all over this type of solution.
 
So a pedophile can permenently scar a child, something that child will live with forever, but we have to be nice to the pedophile so he is not scarred for life? I don't necessarily think "and eye for an eye" is the answer to everything, but I think people need to give some credence to the magnitude of the crime in the life of the victim. I think pedophiles should be treated as harshly as we possibly can. So this guy gets a shot every 3 months and gets to go about his life, while the child whose life he ruined is forced to deal with the horrific fall-out from the crime for the rest of their life. And that is justice? Sometimes I really wonder.

Just a little unsubstantiated anecdotal evidence, but most the girls that were putting out around 12-15 years old, that I knew, at some point told a story about being molested, usually by a family member. It seems to have set them on a path that would drastically affect the rest of their lives.
 
More anecdotal evidence is of a neice of ours about 10 years ago who was raped by a 16-year-old neighborhood boy when she was 5. He did so much physical damage to her that she has had 5 or 6 reconstructive surgeries. The doctors say she may never be able to have intercourse without moderate to severe pain, if really at all, but they can't know for sure until she becomes sexually active. Now at 15 she has attempted to take her own life 3 times. And to think that that kid could get off with just a shot every 3 months and live a normal life, AFTER DOING THIS TO 2 OR MORE CHILDREN, that is just nauseating (luckily he had the book thrown at him, he was tried as an adult and is in prison still today...not sure how long his sentence is but I know he has a solid chunk of years left).

Snce when do menopausal women, as a group, lose desire for sex? Everyone loses desire as they age, but sometimes female desire increases directly after menopause, whe compared with directly before.

Yes, I did assume you were responding to the part you bolded, that you did not think estrogen levels increase in menopausal women, and that menopausal women don't worry about having erectile dysfunction. Those assumptions may have been mistaken.
