Perhaps what this topic is losing sight of is the fact that SANTA CLAUS ISN'T ****ING REAL AND NEITHER IS JESUS.

While I do not believe in God or in the myth that Jesus was son of the God I think there is plenty of evidence that Jesus was real person.

No there isn't. There is SOME evidence he may have existed, but I wouldn't call it plenty.

Either way, I'm not getting to the debate of whether Jesus is real AGAIN. I stopped getting into religious topics as I don't enjoy all the neg reps. :D

but isn't that the same as fear of hell and eternal suffering:)? It is all fictional and has no influence on real life at the end of the day:)

If it affects the way people behave and think how do you figure that is has no influence on real life? Are you implying that religious people get their motivation from fear?

besides, what's that quote about perception - it's 9/10's reality, or something like that? or maybe I have it backwards, and reality is 9/10's perception? probably doesn't matter either...

My point is that it should not affect how atheists behave and think. I am not qualified to discuss how religious people get their motivation.
 
Santa clause is definitely more real in my home than Jesus. I am an atheist but I'm not militant about it. We do celebrate a secular christmas. My daughter only gets clothes from Santa though. I can't give him credit for the good gifts.

It makes me curious. Does Santa play a larger role than Jesus during christmas in religious households as well?
 
Santa Clause is from Antalya and Jesus Christ is from Nazareth.

Even all the Santa's on the cover of the new Tyler Perry movie are white. Now if that's not the end all to this discussion I don't know what is.
