I have come across this brilliant scientific paper amazingly titled "On the Reception and Detection of Pseudo-Profound Bull****”, which examines the cognitive abilities of those who eat up pop-spiritualism like Deepak Chopra's drivel. It concludes that they are simply not all that smart. :D

The study was done by giving the participants a series of grammatically sound sentences of randomly generated pseudo-profound words strung together. They were then asked to evaluate how profound the statements were. Standard cognitive tests that measure things like analytical thinking were then given to compare the participants.

It is an awesome scientific confirmation of something I find pretty obvious.

Here's a Forbes article on the study for those who don't want to read the actual paper:

I find this interesting after having learned that use of buzzwords by executives gives people a higher level of trust in their leadership abilities.

My plant manager, who is a native French speaker, uses tons of BS jargon in his plant-wide emails.

Let us increase our proximity and together we can accelerate our success.

I've always wondered who supports that dude besides government libraries. Chopra and Sandra Browne....Synthia Browne....whatever that Blonde physic chicks name that died somewhat recently that claimed to channel spirits that tell her everything under the sun...from who built the pyramids and why....where Atlantis was really located.....what exactly happens in the afterlife, etc. Those guys together have so much shelf space in every public library I've ever walked to.....it's unreal. Easily the top two authors going by shelf space at public libraries. Who is reading that shiite though? I've read 3 or 4 each just because I was wondered why they get so much shelf space and they're both terrible. And then I have trouble finding libraries that even have Dostoevsky books at all or something. It's ridiculous. I bet all those Browne books haven't been checked out in at least 5 years. Chopra probably still gets a checkout every few months from some floozy....but still....the amount of shelf space tells me there is some agenda there.

Chopra is my ex's favorite author. So funny!
