I have come across this brilliant scientific paper amazingly titled "On the Reception and Detection of Pseudo-Profound Bull****”, which examines the cognitive abilities of those who eat up pop-spiritualism like Deepak Chopra's drivel. It concludes that they are simply not all that smart. 
The study was done by giving the participants a series of grammatically sound sentences of randomly generated pseudo-profound words strung together. They were then asked to evaluate how profound the statements were. Standard cognitive tests that measure things like analytical thinking were then given to compare the participants.
It is an awesome scientific confirmation of something I find pretty obvious.
