Self Defense

I wrestled for 16 years and started college on scholarship. 8 straight state titles and twice placed 2nd at grand nationals.. I've never ran into anyone using any form of martial arts that remotely understood how to stop a fight like I could. I got in plenty of fights when I was younger .. most because some knucklehead that was bigger than me wanted to prove he was a tough guy.

In about 15 fights I've only ever been hit twice, both sucker punches.. I could end it very quickly.. like under 15 seconds.. and never had to hurt anyone, except an incredibly bruised ego. I never once considered myself to be any sort of tough guy .. I just knew I could end any stupid silliness that was started without much effort or mess.

WWF or WCW ..... or were you a real tough guy, ECW !?!?

I would fight 10 karate guys before I fought a wrestler.

I'm in no way downing martial arts. However, most seemed completely lost once they were on the ground.

Part of the problem is there are soooo many people who claim to be good at martial arts when they actually suck.

I'm sure they are out there, but I've never met anyone who was way into martial arts who wasn't a complete dork. Kicking air doesn't make you a tough guy, nerd.

If they decide to shoot you it don't matter how fast you are

well, theoretically speaking, about 1200ft/sec is where this truism begins to get questionable.

where's OB to quibble about what the observer riding on a bullet would see?

Nevertheless, just mentioning it can keep you out of a lot of fights.

Anybody challenge you on being advised of your skill?

I took a Karate class once. I not only kicked air, I karate chopped it.

growing up, I learned to take the punches, kicks, slugs, and how to keep my arm, when twisted behind my back, just a little less painful than I could make it sound. I could keep my head out of the toilet no matter what, too. And I would still mock the tough guy.

It was a psych-op operation. You just don't know how infuriating it is to tough guys to find out all their talents are just irrelevant to scrawny nerds.

I didnt know this thread was cool.

I'm here now.

I have not been in a fight since 6th grade, which is a minor miracle because I am somewhat of a **** talker.

I got punched once, by the weirdest kid in my grade school, the thing was he was probably 150 pounds and pretty solid as a 6th grader, I threw a football at his back so I could recover it like an onside kick and he walked over and punched me in the face and walked off, it didnt really hurt I was more confused/shocked that it had happened. Thats it though, now no one ****s with me because Im crazy
