Sheridan: Spurs front-runner to land Jefferson

Say what you want, but adding Al Jefferson to the Spurs would make the Spurs a bigger threat to come out of the West. Giving him that title shot is doing him a real solid. Jefferson has been a real professional in his time at Utah. I hope it happens for several reasons.

I would've thought the Jazz would get more back in a deal, especially a draft pick from somewhere. Separately, I wonder if we would waive Jackson.

Class post. BB intellect aside..

This.. Repped!!

Depends who they give up. Splitter is such a good fit (arguably the best pick and roll big in the league) and team player, it's entirely possible they get worse trading Splitter for Al.

Too good to be true...

Jefferson is the opposite of what the Spurs have gone after since... Well.. Forever.

lazy ***, individual player, anti-team, ball hog, no defense? Jefferson belongs in Minny or Washington.

Hahaha!

No.

UR wrong.

Any team that obtains Big Al becomes worse.

Besides, I'll take my chances. Give me Kanter and Favors. Those 2 will combine for 50+ against Big Al. Could you imagine how much better our offense would flow if Burks, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter had Big Al to pick on?

I think it's a bit unfair to call lump Green in with 'scraps' (although there are a few Spurs fans who would disagree with me) as the guy has great size for the 2, can hit the 3 and defend. Do the Jazz need anyone at the 2 though? I don't watch you guys much, I'm assuming Hayward plays 3?

I understand you'd be looking for picks, but do you think you are likely to get much more than Green + 30th for him? It is a gamble for anyone to trade for an expiring, would a team be willing to give up a lottery pick for him?

I like a core of Green/Hayward/Favors/Kanter/Millsap going forward, all young and talented. Would really need a quality point guard to put it all together.

I would probably take the trade you suggested. I just would rather get at least a mid first rounder for Jefferson. He is at least worth that. We paid 2 1sts for him and Koufus. He isn't as bad as we make him out either. We just have potentially two better players waiting to play so we take our frustration out on Al. I'm sure Pop would get the best out of him.

Guess again ... This would be a great career move for Big Al, because who would he get to mentor him -- his idol, Tim Duncan, plus playing under a coach like Pop would help discipline his game. And yes, it would help both teams. Give us Mills and Splitter and a draft choice along with Jackson, and then we waive Jackson, and I'm all for it. We still have a big problem ... does this mean Millsap needs to permanently become a 3 or we trade him too, if such a deal goes down?

Sheridan said Murphy was a PG. This guy doesn't do his homework, therefore I don't believe a word of this.

Big Al as a 2nd option on offense is different than Big Al as a first/only option on offense. I think Al would be great next to Duncan. That's two bigs who both draw double teams and are interchangeable in the high and low post.

Ok so here's the thing- Not that I wouldn't completely discard this trade, but I think Tiago Splitter is fool's gold. Most of his points come from the Spur's amazing offense and Manu's PnR passes. I'm not so sure how good he is on another team.
Kind of like Roger Mason- the Spurs can make anybody look like an all star.

And can somebody tell me who the hell Patty Mills is and why he deserves to be our future PG or even a backup PG?
So far, I see a guy getting 11 minutes a game and averaging 5 points and less than an assist per game.

Stephen Jackson....headcase.

Guess, you haven't seen much of Mills. You should've watched the Olympics. The guy has got game -- more of shoot-first PG, but potentially better than Mo.

And we waive Jackson so the Spurs can resign him and for that they give us their 1st-rounder (wink-wink).

A volume shooter, soft as hell, and who never plays defense or boxes out will never be good.

To me, this deal would go down as one of the best steals the Jazz have ever pulled.

They would not only unload their worst problem right now.

But they'd end up sinking the Spurs.

The Spurs don't need a soft stiff. They need someone like Favors. Team Favors up with Duncan and they'd finally have the athleticism and size to escape the WC and defeat the Heat.

Sorry folks, but even pops can't fix Jefferson. Guys like he and Boozer don't change. You can't fix soft, stiff, and lazy.

Nope, don't even know who he is but I'll check him out on the Olympics.

The new CBA doesn't allow this...

Mills was awesome in the Olympics!!

Who cares what we get in return? I'd give big al up to the Lakers, Heat, or Spurs for a future 2nd rounder.

We just need him off this team... Like now... Like... Before this year even started!

Kanter and Favors need to be getting 25+ mins.

Even Harpring said it tonight, "The jazz are playing so physical! They're beating up the Bucks inside."

Why?

Simple. Kanter and Favors kick ***.

Al Jefferson airballs jumpers and shoots weezies.

Literally, in just the first half alone Kanter and Faovors got to the free throw line more than Big Al does in weeks.

Get him out of here. I will personally pay for his plane ticket.

Fool's gold or not, he is still a mobile 7' who knows how to play basketball.
