The Jazz NBA brain trust says the Jazz need "shooters." They have been bringing college players in for a look see to fill that role. If we need shooters what is wrong with Kevin Murphy, Scotty Hopson, Nate Wolters or Elliot Williams. All have seem to shoot the ball at proficient levels in the minor leagues and all of their field goal percentages would seem to give them that "shooter" designation. Yet are all not deemed to be prospects by the front office and or coaches
 
We don't need shooters we need makers.
 
This is part of the reason that the FO is going to have give serious consideration to Devin Booker if he's there.
 
I made more shots on my double shot down stairs than I missed. I bet I have like an 85% field goal metric. I'm just that good guys... Just that good.
 
If the NBA only realized how much talent there was in the D-league. Homey needs to start his own team right now to take on the winners of the Cavs/Warriors series.

Unfortunately, this isn't football. You can't sub out on the opposite end. When the Jazz FO says they need "shooters," I really think they mean they are looking for "3&D" guys.
 
Which is why, if Frank Kaminsky is on the board at 12, they will take him. Backup center, length, a true 7 footer, team guy, decent defender, big who can stretch the floor.
 
Novak was a shooter. We shipped him off real fast.

Being just a shooter isn't enough. You have to bring more to the table.

OKC INSISTED on bringing in TWO players who couldn't defend. Besides, who knew Novak was also a stand-up comedian. That interview after the trade was priceless.
 
On year in high school I hit over 50% of my 3's. Then a few years ago in an old man's league over the course of a 12 game "season" I hit every 3 I attempted in games (something like 22 total). I should go play for the Jazz.

I doubt very much that the Thunder wanted Novak. Jazz wanted to move his salary for this year and create financial flexibility for next year.
 
What we need is for our current starters to become shooters. If we bring in new shooters who will take a back seat? Fav, Hayward, Burke, Hood, Exum?
We don't need shooters coming off the bench. We need our core to develop more consistent shooting. This year the entire team took significant strides forward in team defense. Imagine what we could look like if the entire group made a similar stride in shooting %.
