Game, people can be as arbitrary, capricious, and irrational as they wanna be, true dat. They should just say so, rather than denying it. It's the hypocritical self-righteousness and lack of sincerity that kinda sticks in my craw, ya know? As least you're straight-forward about it, suggesting that you would not tolerate dissent, and that you wouldn't pay the least bit of attention to "right" or "wrong" in the process. Tell it like it is, homey!

Maybe you don't hear what I'm saying. You're calling another man out in the middle of his own damn front room. In my world those are fighting words, and it doesn't have so much to do with dissent as it does manners in another man's home.

Well, yeah, I see what you're sayin now, eh, Game? This message board is like a living room. I kinda see the country that way too, ya know? This is America, and America always has a duly-elected, clear-cut leader, called the President. It's Obama now, and just before that it was Bush. It doesn't matter who's in office, under those circumstances, he's the leader of the country, and it's his living room. Critics should either just keep they sorry mouth shut or else leave the country.

Like good ole give em hell Harry Truman done said about McArthur, ya know: "He can treat Harry Truman that way, but, by God, he can't treat the President of the United States that way!"

An honest question, in keeping with my general desire to not to try to make this thread ugly through my actions: Hopper, have you ever contacted a Jazzfanz.com administrator about me?

If not, I believe your obvious recourse is right in front of you.

Well, Kicky, I just asked Colton a question in this thread. He probably hasn't seen it yet, but if and when he does, I guess he can either respond, or not, as he sees fit.

I will PM a link to that post directly to him so that he will know to take a look at it. In the meantime, I may suggest that if you wish to contact a jazzfanz.com administrator about what you perceive as an unfair moderating practice a private message or e-mail through use of the "Contact Us" page may be the most efficient way to lodge a complaint.

In the meantime, would you object to my bundling a few of these threads together (off the top of my head, I'm thinking about this thread, the victims thread, and the Rodney King thread) into a new thread with a stylish title? Perhaps "aint's complaints?" Or are we pretending these are about separate subjects?

Thanks for the tip. I have done that before, but never received the least bit of acknowledgement, but, who knows, mebbe the third time will be the charm, eh?

Yes, I would mind, and they are separate topics. But why ask me? Do whatever you're gunna do, eh?

Poorest me!!!!

BRING THE IRON HAMMER DOWN.

Unless, of course, it benefits me, than you're just an idiot who finally saw the light.

If not, OH, THE HORROR, OH, THE HORROR.

As for the voting, that doesn't happen in the public eye, but Kicky has said that he abstained from voting in instances where he was involved in the conversation, and I believe him. That would seem to close the issue. Or am I missing something?

For what it's worth, that's the policy--not just for kicky, but for all of the moderators.

Really?

Yes, that's been our policy for as long as I can remember (with perhaps just a few exceptions back in the days before it required a vote of three moderators to issue an infraction).

Well, OK, Colton, thanks for the response. I recently got an infraction for replying to Kicky (which made it one too many posts in a row to suit him, even though I was replying to other posters also). I was told that Moe did not vote on that infraction, and if Kicky didn't, that doesn't leave many left. I take it for granted that "policy" was followed, of course, but you can correct me if I'm wrong about that.

On the other hand, if the complaining party is himself a moderator, I guess other mods would automatically vote for an infraction, sight unseen and circumstances unknown, even.

It isn't like the mods all get together to play poker once a week and will defend each other to the death. I believe the mods are sincere about their job here and take it seriously. I don't believe they will take Kicky's word on a subject just because he said it. However, the mods are human and of course their feelings about a person can't help but play a role. So if you are rude and unmanageable, insist on breaking rules, and just generally a jerk - well, really, why would you expect unbiased treatment?

Hopper, you've always been nice to me, and I appreciate that. But you have to admit that your online persona can wear people out. Just saying.

Well, Gal, always nice to hear your viewpoint, ya know? I take it you are tellin me you consider me to be:

1) rude
2) unmanageable
3) a jerk, and
4) a rule breaker

To respond:

1) Mebbe "rude" is in the eye of the beholder, but I seldom insult people, like I see many others doing on a routine basis. Many of these same posters seem to have great support from the mods. Mebbe it just kinda depends on "who" you're being rude to, assumin that you are rude, eh?

2) Not sure in what way I am supposed to be managed, or by whom, but I fess up to this: Most every Babe I ever shacked up probably considered me to be "unmanageable."

3) Me!? A jerk!? Heh, well, there again, I spoze it depends on who you're askin, eh? I do tend to kid around, and I'm sure that in itself offends some people. Did you have sumthin else in mind?

4) Well, if you're a rule-breaker, I guess that's why you get infractions, eh? So I don't see how breaking a "rule," even one that no one knows exists, could create bias. That's the whole point, aint it? I mean look at what happened and see if a rule has been broken, rather than slap out infractions on the basis that the guy is just a "rule-breaker?"

P.S.: There are also at least four things about you that I have always liked and respected:

1) You are honest, sincere, and generally forthright
2) You have a good heart
3) You are not defensive and don't try to play the expert 24/7
4) You have a good sense of humor

If only even half of the posters here were the same....

I wasn't exactly saying you were all of the above, but I can see how you would think that.

And this is why I don't typically say mean things about anyone on here - I can't take the guilt. Although I have to admit I like your P.S. Crap, I feel worse now.

Just to elaborate a little, Gal, in short you are the type of poster I don't clash with. We may agree or disagree, but it's never personal. You may dislike a variety of things about me, or my style, but I would be surprised if you think it's because I attacked you, ridiculed you, or was otherwise "rude" to you (although I realize rudeness can be perceived where none was intended, so...).

It's the pompous know-it-alls who want to insult and ridicule those who disagree with them who usually get my attention. And, of course, they are the very type of insecure fools who will most hate and resent being challenged. Unfortunately there are quite a few of those types here, and I do not for one second question the fact that I have therefore made quite a few "enemies" on this board. This goes beyond the posters you may have a dispute with. Often some who are not directly involved in any way greatly resent that you are disagreeing with their friend. Some of them may be moderators, other than Kicky, I dunno. But the type I'm talkin about never forget any "slight" (translated: "failure to ratifiy and approve of any nonsense they may spout"), and are generally ever-vigilant for any chance to "get even," ya know? As you say, "their feelings about a person can't help but play a role."
