Spida’s Ankle

The difficult truth is that this is only going to get worse as the playoffs progress. It's obviously hurt enough that normal things, like stopping hard, are enough to tweak it again. Every tweak builds up cumulative trauma on the ankle. I knew this was going to be a problem when he came up hobbled after that hard stop in the first half. On replay it wasn't anything crazy, the ankle didn't role, quite frankly it was something a normal healthy athletes ankle would have handled just fine. This is very concerning. Without Mitchell we will lose 4 straight to the clippers even with Conley. We need him for any thoughts of a deep run.

I'm really hoping he can get the rest he needs and that he can at least be functional. But it won't take much to push that ankle over the edge. And I'm really afraid at this point it's just a matter of time. It's not if, but when, as he keeps playing on it injured.

I get that he has no other option, but we need to be prepared for the one time he comes down from some high-flying move and lands just wrong enough to take him out of the playoffs.
Seems like this also reinforces why the medical staff was so careful in how quickly they brought him back.

Not really.

If he's reaggravating it in Game 2 of the 2nd round, I don't think him missing Game 1 of the 1st round saved him from anything.

If anything it just made it worse - gave us extra games in Round 1, leading to Conley's injury, leading to a heavier load on Mitchell in this round.

FWIW I heard this on a podcast from a national writer (maybe Zach Lowe) and I think Locke said it too. But they said that it's exceedingly common for players, particularly star players, to have private trainers work in conjunction with the team's official medical staff.
I didn't see it as an issue at all. Snyder loved on DM, and DM just wanted to show strong in the face of the opponents. Everyone looked like they approved. Who are we to criticize.

Wade missed 20 or more games seven times in his career.

Listen I said it in jest but to get defensive and say Wade was some model of health is silly.

Right. It's clear holding Mitchell out for game one of the Memphis series was a bad idea. There's nothing that suggests otherwise, unless you think he shouldn't be playing at all and should have sat out multiple games. If that's the case, well we probably aren't worried about the Clippers because we would have been bounced in the first round anyway.

Created conflict and issues? Jazz whooped dat *** in round 1 and are up 2-1 in round two.
If that's conflict and issues then can I have some more please? Might just have enough conflict and issues to win a championship

The only drama around the franchise is always that childish selfish diva. He’s too good for the same exact staff his 14 other teammates use. He’s a bitch. A child. A self absorbed diva who worries about his image and pretends he’s some humble good dude. He ain’t, and he shows it over and over and over again.

Wow - Mitchell's private staff is led by our part owner's trainer.

Looks like ownership was involved with this and it wasn't just Mitchell going rogue.
Wild how the 14 other guys on the team aren’t too good for the teams medical staff (who also took care of him for 4 ****ing years) huh. The Jazz have a great medical staff that 14 other guys trust and he has trusted for 4 years until that diva, self absorbed head blew up that made him too good for it. Get his personal staff the **** off our bench during games.

Mikes injury is a nagging chronic injury that comes to a head every so often. Mikes hamstring was going to and will flair up again. It’s not an issue going away. And yes, 3 days rest vs 1 day rest and managing an injury does help. Mike(in a contract year) is widely listening to the medical staff who are taking good care of him.

Wtf else is Quin gonna do? Say no so Donovan can throw a **** fit?

No we wouldn’t have lol. It’s always smart to manage injuries when you are able to especially when they obviously are still an issue. If his ankle continues to degrade into games 6 or 7, it can turn into a much worse issue and 1 vs 3 days rest is a difference on a healing ankle.
