What's new

Stanton Kidd released!

Would have made a hell of a lot more sense to sign a center to a 10 day first.......
Morgan kind of is a center. Dude is a great rebounder and skilled. I like the signing but kind of sad they released Kidd without giving him a shot.

Neither is Green. If we can play Green there we can play Brantley there.
No, that doesnt mean that. Green is fine defensively at center, he just doesnt rebound. Brantley is pretty average at rebounding as well and doesnt have the defensive experience to play center in the NBA.

It's amazing that he grew from 6-8 to 6-9 all during the time it took to write that article. That alone should help him play center.

Should be 7 foot by this weekend then... perfect.

I was really excited...until I read that they released him just so they could sign Juwan Morgan.

Same reaction I had.

Though in a perfect world we signed him because some other team is dumb enough to send a 2nd for Niang. <--- I wish

Morgan has been good with the Stars so far this season - seems to have a decent all-around game.

Great background story on this guy, which was discussed earlier this summer. Now I am interested to see if he can switch onto guards, so that Jazz could play him as Rudy's back-up and switch everything. He can shoot from range, put the ball on the floor and pass a little. I'm excited for him to get a chance, but also excited because I was already growing bored of the current rotations.

Lol last night I predicted he would replace Kidd next year. Didn't think it'd happen the next day. This guy is a player if he can hit the 3 somewhat consistently. How much money did Kidd make for being on the team for like 15 games? Was it just his camp guarantee and then a prorated minimum or something? Or was his min deal fully guaranteed?

I think he gets full minimum deal so like $900k

Maybe it is just the $250k... basketball reference has him listed at $250k against our cap... still can make some more dough... either here or in Europe.

Morgan has started the last three games at center for the Stars, all wins.

After watching his highlights from the G League this season I think it makes sense. Can catch and finish the bounce pass on pick and roll or the lob. Wide big body so sets good screens. Seems like a solid passer and that he knows where to be. Can handle and moves his feet well on defense. Straight stood a couple guys up on drives and you could tell he's strong AF. I would like to see him play some on Friday.

If he plays the 5...

... it means DL’s prized guy that’s in his third year was able to be replaced by someone off the scrap heap who’s never played a minute in the NBA.

Plus he is a Big 10 player from IU so he ought to know basketball a little. He had some really good stats from preseason.

I think the idea here is that ideally we wouldn't play Green at the 5.

If that's the idea then we should have signed a 5 who is actually going to play. Morgan is not going to get minutes unless it's in garbage time.

After 5 games, Juwan Morgan has the best advanced stats in the g-league.

Nigel Williams-Goss is awful

Small sample, but enough to know Bradley ain’t it. Lindsey whiffed on a #30 pick. It happens.

I have no problem with that. What I’ll have a problem with is the insistence that we can salvage something. DL strikes me as a guy who has a drawer full of old batteries, not quite wanting to let go of the very minimal amount of charge he may be able to draw out of them if he shakes them vigorously.

We had a guy play for the Stars and our summer league team in 2018, Diamond Stone, who was about Bradley's size, a McDonald's All American and a high 2nd round pick by another team. The other team let him go, we parted ways with him and has released by a GLeague team this year. Look at our pick of Oliver Hanlan. Sometimes these things happen.
