Stephen A Smith & Jalen Rose - Mitchell is ROY

Unfortunately there are still a lot of people like Max Kellerman out there. The it's Ben Simmons for sure and nothing is going to change their mind crowd. People who are just looking at the face value stats and not digging deeper into the numbers. Other media members eat that stuff up and regurgitate it around like a bird feeding it's young. I'm extremely hopeful that Donovan wins it. But I expect the media to give it to Simmons even if Donovan is more deserving. Jazz players always gets screwed when it comes to awards.

Not so fast, at the beginning 100% are giving it to Simmons, now it seems like it's at least a 50/50 chance!

Not to mention on Twitter after the Spurs game Reggie Miller, DeMar DeRozen and DeMarcus Cousins are saying Mitchell should be the ROY.

The way I see it? It's only just begun....

Seems like DM getting too much credit for the recent Jazz wins.

Gobert and Ingles are the main reason the Jazz are winning, Rubio has been really good also.

Not where it counts. That is in the locker room and FO. Looks to me that the team is closer and more united than ever. Our guys are full on hugging on the court. Telling coach to leave them on the bench because some one else is hotter in the moment. Things like that.

Ingles, Rubio, O'Neale, Mitchell, Favors, Gobert and even Hood (when he was here) have all had critical moments that helped the Jazz to their 10 win streak.

Sure the national media focuses on the best story and that is Mitchell, but the team and it's fans know what's up.

Burks played well and played big minutes in the early part of the streak too while hood was out and before Royce minutes went way up.
Hell jerebko, JJ, udoh, neto, crowder, etc etc all have made sizeable contributions to the win streak.
This is a real TEAM. Everyone has bought in and contributed

Not to be a party pooper but I thought we were posting these on the "NBA stars comments" thread

Or maybe we just continue here because that thread was ruined by utahjazzz

If the Jazz can creep up past the 8 seed, and get into the playoffs and Donovan continues to play as well or better than he has, I think it will change some votes in a serious way. The conversation has changed from Simmons being given the award before the first game ever tipped off this season to it actually being a discussion. It's on Donovan to to win those people over. If he does end up doing it and winning the award, it speaks to just how amazing he really is.

I would also say that for all the love Donovan gets, and he deserves every bit of it, Rudy Gobert should be in the conversation for defensive player if the year if the Jazz continue rolling their way into the playoffs and Quin Snyder should be under consideration for coach of the year. What Quin and the Jazz have done this season is actually pretty remarkable, and the difference Rudy makes to this team is even more remarkable.

I'm all for the love affair with Donovan, but theres some other guys who deserve some serious credits and award consideration as well.
