If his alcohol-soaked body lasts long enough we're going to hear a lot about this guy for a while.

• “I’m a Leninist,” Mr. Bannon was quoted as saying by a writer for The Daily Beast who met him at a party in 2014. He later said he did not recall the conversation. “Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal, too,” the site quoted him as saying. “I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.”

wow. Somebody said they remember what the other drunk said at a party. That's news.

Someone never got invited to the cool parties and doesn't know anything about drinking. Makes the common LDS assumption that all drinking involves "drunks" and all drinking results in complete inebriation.

Yeah, totally out of character for him. Disregard it, we're good!

In the general context of Breitbart, I'd say Lenin is a joke. As a metaphor for a revolution, maybe. But Breitbart is not a Marxist or left sort of revolution.

I'd say it's a common sense sort of view that is just calling out stupid policies for being just that.

If that's a revolution, it's overdue.

I've stumbled over enough drunks sleeping in pools of their own piss, bro.

I was making fun of that "hard" news that consisted entirely of an anonymous source reporting a comment. Did you notice that initial gratuitous barb implicating Bannon as a drunk? Why don't you go **** that poster.

Tell me more about this.

Tell me more about this.

ha ha. I'll bite.

In the Philippines, when I was a missionary.

Filipinos can make alcohol from anything, probably some of it pretty good. In some rural areas the coconut forests were pretty convenient, and I didn't think I found a sober man for several months.

Game is right. Nobody invites me to parties, and my wife wouldn't let me go, either.

My gggandpa kept a pub. It was in the family from oh 1600 to 1880. I believe I would be an alcoholic if I drank anything. I overdose on peppermint. or whatever is in the dish at my elbow. I would be a gambling addict if I gambled.

Some people are like that.

But I'm not addicted to government "solutions" for our problems.

Dude, you were bred to be an alcoholic. You could have been the best alcoholic.

You can bet I've had my eyes on this guy, lol. He's been consolidating power, has eclipsed National Security advisor Flynn, who is now very much on the outs, as well as Trump's son-in-law. He's the power behind the throne now, and that is not likely to change. I'll post a few links.

He appeared via Skype at a Vatican conference in 2014, and this is a good look at his ideas. He is a brilliant man, I have to give him that. I posted this in one of the other threads, after he was appointed to the Principals Committee of the NSC. You don't have to read this; there is both a link to a Youtube video of his comments, as well as an audio link at the bottom of the page:

https://www.buzzfeed.com/lesterfede...entire-world?utm_term=.kg1yyRKyVx#.mf1BBDlBoR

Another interview in Trump Tower:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/n...-political-movement-948747?utm_source=twitter

His break with prior positions on national security:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...-decades-us-foreign-policy-doctrine/97292068/

Yesterday, it was reported that Bannon needed Senate confirmation to serve on the NSC, giving Trump opponents and those who fear this guy hope. But that is not the case. Technically, he is only an invitee to the NSC, and Senate approval is not required to sit on the Principals Committee:

https://www.lawfareblog.com/does-steve-bannons-role-principals-committee-require-senate-confirmation

And, as noted, Bannon is consolidating his power:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/steve-bannon-making-sure-no-222654315.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=fb

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/donald-trump-steve-bannon-234347

All this has led some to refer to him as President Bannon. Well, of course that's an exaggeration, but he's the man that has the boss's ear for sure, and he and Steve Miller were the authors of the immigration executive order.

And finally, I posted this some time ago in one of the election threads I think, when it first became apparent to me that Bannon needed to be watched very closely. It describes a theory of history that he subscribes to. These ideas are obviously also reflected in the comments he made at the Vatican conference in 2014. I'm not suggesting he is wrong to see a Great War developing between Islam and the West, but the fact that he seems to have a "bring it on" attitude is likely the reason behind the chaotic launch of the immigration ban. And the reason Christians are favored once refugee immigration resumes from Syria. People say that ban will aid in recruitment by ISIS. Well, I would suggest Bannon and ISIS are actually on the same page in that respect. They both want this greater war, IMHO. And maybe that is where we are heading. And it is certainly one of the chief reasons folks on the Left are extremely worried about Steve Bannon:

Yawn.

I am going to start tagging all your posts for bedtime reading.

I think the liberal media should start calling him President Bannon in very public, very prominent ways. I can't imagine anything that could possibly get under Trump's skin any deeper than that.

All hail President Bannon!

Bannon: "We are going to war in the South China Sea...no doubt".

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...non-donald-trump-war-south-china-sea-no-doubt

nah. No worry here.

President Trump solved that war with one call to Taiwan. Mainland Chinese govt is in deep crisis. It shores up public support to go strutting out to those sand bars, promising an oil field as big as Saudi Arabia, at little cost, when you have a doormat American Pres like Obama. With him we had that angry rooster of the Philippines going to prostrate himself before the mainland Chinese Lords, spitting in the face of Obama.

Historically, Chinese merchants have used ports in the Philippines at will for two thousand years, just part of the Empire. Great sandy beaches, protected from danger, lots native girls lolling about under the coconut trees. 25% of Filipinos are "Chinoy" or within one generation of full blooded Chinese, Mostly freedom-loving Chiang Kai-Shek loyalists in solidarity with overseas Chinese everywhere. Mainland China has been sending out "immigrant/colonists" to Africa, South and Central America and anywhere else that needs investment capital, but most of their "missionaries" are converts to freedom, as well. Not that they say when they take the govt checks.

Mainland China has a water crisis. They are diverting rivers in the Himalayas and making India furious. Desal could prevent a lot of wars, actually. China needs American trade to stay afloat economically. The Chinese national mentality goes to caution pretty quick.

What will actually happen is Trump will make things work with China and they'll stop strutting their stuff to get along. Trump will encourage desal like Obama encouraged solar.

Better days are here again.

babe, I will say the more I got to know Bannon, the more I understood your own point of view described over the course of many threads here. At times, I actually found myself saying "this is babe". I think Bannon is one of the sharper minds where espousing the anti-globalist point of view is concerned.

At any rate, more insight into the mind of Steve Bannon may be gained in examining a film project he was involved in:

yah. I'm not Bannon. I'd take that film as a sort of extreme Seinfeld piece, not as something seriously believed.

Seinfeld was, though wildly popular, about "Nothing". I viewed it as a harbinger of a collapsing culture. Usually, human civilization requires some kind of competence at what we do.

Bannon, and many others, see the obvious problems with global fascism. Whether they can harness the thinking to the job of creating a better schema of governance is another matter. The whole of human history has been the toppling of one failure to replace it with some other failure.

I recognize, in the terms of the US Constitution, a schema for limiting the damage a government can do to us. Sure, maybe we want a government that can do us some good, but we have no reliable way of keeping imbeciles or clever rascals away from the levers of power. The US Constitution in some measure limits both the power and appeal of "governance" as a life ambition, and discourages rascals if not imbeciles from seeking to employ it to their own purposes.

If we need world governance, we should model it after the US Constitution, and insist on elected representatives and various levels of local supremacy as well.

On 5/23/17, PBS's Frontline series, aired "Bannon's War", an in depth look at Steve Bannon's rise to a position of power in the Trump administration. It was posted on their website at the same time. Posting it here for anybody who may be interested in better understanding Bannon and the influence of his ideas within the present administration. While his role or status within Trump's orbit may have waned recently, he is still a key strategist within the administration. The 54 minute production is current through the most recent events affecting the administration.
