Summer 2015: FIBA games of Utah Jazz players

I think most of this board is overrating just how good Rudy is. I doubt we see any offensive improvement from him this season and that he has a slight drop in his defensive presence either because of foul trouble or him buying into his own press too much or both. I've seen no one here mention the latter but that's a huge factor in having young guys develop. Ignore the ink and simply work hard.

Yes but I'm pretty sure he will demonstrate some moves and shots he is working on during certain games because he is not afraid to do so.

With Eurobasket only a couple of days away feel its time for predictions. Top two are in Olympics. 3-7 will make the Olympic qualifying tournaments.

1. Serbia
2. France
3. Spain
4. Croatia
5. Greece
6. Lithuania
7. Italy
Bonus Slovenia 8th

I just hope Italy gets out of the first round considering they are in the group of death.

Man, you went all out for these predictions. It is pretty ridiculous how tough Group B is and how easy Group D is. I believe i may have to redo mine though due to how the brackets are. To me the 3 best teams are in A and B which again does not make much sense. Not sure I like how Spain played such an easy warmup schedule.

That's how the seeding worked.
Group B was just bad luck that Serbia was seeded so low due to their disappointing result in '13 and both Italy and Germany having better rosters than in previous summers.
Apparently the 4 hosts could select a partner nation from another pot and Germany chose Turkey probably due to migration history and to prop up their attendance.

Eurobasket starts in a few hours.

Germany vs Iceland at 7AM MT Should be a walkover. Iceland perhaps worst team in the tournament.
France vs Finland 1MT Finland actually beat them in their first prep game, but chances are slim that, that happens again.

Other notable games:

Game of the day: Serbia vs Spain 10MT Could very well be a preview of the finals.
Croatia vs Slovenia 1MT Dario and Mario should help Croatia to victory.
Italy vs Turkey 1MT Can the offensive firepower of Italy play any defense? Will potential future Jazz man Korkmaz Furkan play?

Games are on ESPN3. https://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13511849/2015-eurobasket-schedule

Don't underestimate Iceland. I think there's worse participants like the Netherlands and Estonia.

Serbia to win it all eh? I like it, Bogdanovic would need to show exceptionally well to pull that off. I'm picking Greece. Here's the odds on the outright winner of the tournament(avg line from like 20+ sites).

France - 2.83:1
Spain - 3.89:1
Serbia - 6.89:1
Greece - 7.96:1
Lithuania - 11.89:1
Italy - 14.81:1
Croatia - 16.54:1
Turkey - 28.06:1
Slovenia - 30.65:1
Germany 39.31:1
Russia 53.5:1
Finland 98.24:1
Poland 134.21:1
Israel 146.08:1
Latvia 162.75:1
Macedonia 176:1
Ukraine 200:1
Georgia 273:1
Czech Republic 286:1
Bosnia and Herzegovina 309:1
Belgium 327:1
Estonia 540:1
Netherlands 773:1
Iceland 848:1

Betting on Italy at that rate is delusional. Same for Turkey.

the **** is Alex King doing playing ahead of Pleiss?

he was active on the offensive boards, but the dude is 6'7". Puzzling. Pleiss got in foul trouble, but I hope he gets more burn later in the tournament.

Game was weird. Refs were borderline retarded(Or boxing referees). Germany 25 fouls with a defensive strategy that aimed to minimize shooting %s, Iceland 23 fouls, bringing some Viking rubgy strats. Always going for the body, in one case it resulted in a foot injury when a player landed(No Reggie Miller-ing). No call obvi. Idk, in the last quarter, they committed 1 total foul in 8 min which allowed them back into the game as Germany lost focus and confidence when the Serbian refs(why the **** would Serbians ref a German game the day before they face off against Serbia) decided it was time for Iceland to catch up.
Iceland had some good players who made fine plays, but with solid refs, they wouldn't have had 5 remaining players midway through the last quarter.

Pleiß couldn't get any momentum. Iceland played without a Center, and whenever he established good inside position, 1 or 2 help defender jumped and bumped into him from the wings. The no calls forced him to re gather and they could close out when he passed out of it or it resulted in turnovers.
