Summer League Thread

So... have you changed your mind now? Is he now the best French prospect to enter the league since Gobert? Now is the time to jump on the Bilaly Cubaly Island.
Are you serious or joking? I just call it as I see it. In the summer league game I watched i said he was invisible... because he was... if he had played like this I wouldn't have said it obviously. I said numerous times I'm not making any definitive judgements based on summer league. I think my stance on Bilal has been really consistent from pre-draft time to right now. One summer league game did not make me declare him a bust and one will not make me think he is a top 7 prospect in this draft. Its super encouraging though.

Honestly, scoring 19 pts and having 4 blks doesn't really means going off. lol He had a very decent game. If he had 30+ pts, 10+ rebs and 5 blks. That's going off. But he's got potential I'll give you that.
I jokingly declared he'd get 25 today because I was mocking the Bilal truthers.

Bilal has shown everything he needed to show this SL. Point blank period.

If this is the base of what he has to work with going forward, he's at a great starting point.

Which is part of why I don't get the Exum comp... I think they are different body and player types.
When I posted that... what provoked my post was one of those burst of speed with ball in his hands where he left his defender in the dust... but then didn't finish... and a few possessions before that he had a typical Dante sloppy handle where he lets the ball to get poked away...

A lot of it is the rawness with bursts of intrigue sprinkled throughout ... plus they have very similar built big, long guards with some athleticism... IMO Bilal is more athletic, but still...

How is Ousmane Dieng playing so well too? Is the world going to explode with all these French players playing basketball well?

I'm kidding...

Bilal has a big length advantage. He's got a couple inches in height, 5-6 inches in winspan, and 4 inches in standing reach IIRC. I also think he's more athletic, but that might be the length. Hopefully Bilal can get some junk in the trunk like Exum did over time.

There is something funky about Bilal's finishes so far, the French league is strong but I think there are better athletes in SL. Been quite a few plays this SL where he gets to the whoop and doesn't know what to do. His instincts aren't there yet and it leads to some ugly/awkward finishes around the hoop.

He looks like more natural mover too... Dante moved more awkwardly... and he doesn't go flying in the stands on every rim attack like Dante did...

Or you can just admit you were being disingenuous and we can move on. I know that will never happen but it’s an option. Until then it will be a funny inside joke.
I genuinely think that's close to a 5x5 but whatever man. I didtn make up any numbers.

For all the good things Bilal showed, especially in the second half, he still seems awkward and timid off the dribble... it will take a lot of work before he has anything resembling an NBA level pull up game.

And he can pull up off the dribble.
IMO nowhere near consistently enough... in fact, despite his good game today... one of the things that he didn't show was pull up game. He looked hesitant on multiple ocassions where a pull up jumper was on the table for him and he "record scratched" in those rather than trying and missing those shots...
