Tense situation right now.. just like the movie. We don't get these very often.

Please, all prayers to the hostages.

Welp, so far I can only see Asian workers being released so far... can only assume these extremists hold no grudge against Asians.

Welp, so the movie "The Siege" staring Danzel Washington & Bruce Willis was gonna be screened here in NZ's TV3 tonight, but now that has been changed to "The Bourne Supremecy".

Yes PKM, you can always count on political correctness here..

Thank God.. I love it when we are allowed to show empathy to a bad situation. I also love it when we can bomb the **** out of narcissistic nut jobs.

Apparently all he wanted was an Islamic flag & a chance to chat with the PM...

The 4 bombs he had planted are a concern though...

An armed man holding people hostage in a Martin Place cafe has reportedly told hostages he has planted four bombs.

Network Ten says it has spoken with two hostages inside the cafe, who were hysterical as they relayed the man's demands.

The man said two bombs are in the cafe and the others are elsewhere in the CBD.

He also demanded delivery of an Islamic State flag and a conversation with Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Five people have escaped the central Sydney cafe where a gunman has been holding up to 30 hostages.

Earlier a Sydney radio station has been contacted twice by a hostage inside the Lindt cafe in Martin Place.

The guy is who has taken the hostages is currently on bail for being an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife and is facing more than 40 indecent assault charges and has been convicted of sending letters to the deceased soldiers families , who would have thought he may have done something else
Got to love our legal system.

just heard on the radio that heavily-armed police have stormed the cafe where the hostages were being held

also heard a little earlier that a few more hostages had managed to escape

hope it's all resolved soon with no major injuries to any hostages or responding personnel
