The Diaw / Dennis Fail thread

Before I get negged, let me say I know why Diaw was just waived instead of being traded. But I'm wondering who of the usual naysayers will be the first to complain about Lindsey failing to get an asset.

So let's have some fun...
1. If you're a whiner - and you know who you are - go ahead, call out Dennis. He's the lousiest GM ever for not getting anything for such a valuable asset.

2. Even if you agree and understand why Lindsey had to waive Boris, have some fun. Invent a scenario, however unlikely, about a Boris trade Lindsey should have done - because that's what the haters gonna do.

I'll start off with the obvious. Why didn't Lindsey trade Diaw for Crowder? Instead of insisting on a TPE, all he had to do was a simple trade. Boston would have done it; they needed to clear space for Hayward.

Dennis is an idiot for not even trying. He needs to read "The Art of the Deal."

Disclaimer: this is a parody of what a Lindsey critic would post. For some, Dennis can do no right.

This thread is a fail alright.

The only deal I would have liked is Diaw for Trevor Booker. Not really for basketball reasons, but it would have capped things off nicely. . .

As an expert armchair GM, I think I could have at least gotten George or Butler for Diaw, maybe both.

Dennis needs to call me and check on this stuff first before making these decisions.

Nah. Trade Burks for Booker.

He didn't sign steph... wtf? Missed on KD... smdh. Also heard LBJ wants out... did we get him? Lol

I don't think its on DL. The only thing he might have done wrong is hold out for more value than the asset was worth. Then, when it was time to pull the trigger the market value was overcome by events. But that is pure speculation. I am perplexed that they got zero value. $7M in cap space should be worth a 2nd round pick or something.

Maybe it was a good idea for us to take the cap relief and not some other team. Something tells me the FO thought this was more valuable than either a draft pick, or taking on a questionable contract which contradicted the moves they had just made with the three 2 year FA signings. They are definitely being careful with not hamstringing the books the next few years.

Hi ,its 3 am in the North pole. Me and a polar bear just got done fighting over some seal blubber ,so now as the only Jazz fan in the Pole I can tell you what Dennis should have done.First kidnap Haywards wife and say if you dont sign she dissapears..I know a polar bear that can make that happen.

So we are going to rip DL and focus on Diaw? LOL! Outside of getting Gobert and Mitchell based on early play, his drafting has been abysmal. The trade up for Burke was just plain awful. The handling of Hayward's last contract was done poorly (could have extended him 5 yrs below max and he'd still be here). Overall, I give him a C-, and that may be generous. If you think he is doing great, you must be drinking that good kool-aid.

Saw the thread title and thought that green had to be the creator

It's almost as if people expect GM's to make perfect decisions all of the time so that they can win a championship at least 8 out of every 10 seasons.

As far as Boston is concerned, their insistence in winning all of their trades probably got in the way. There must be some bitterness in their front office to think that way, but it'll bite them in the tail eventually. Why would anyone want to trade with a team that insists on winning all trades. I believe that the truth is that nobody was offering picks, and he valued cap space more than throw away contracts. If it's valuable to someone else, it can be valuable to us.

No, I just expect a GM to make good decisions when opportunities present themselves. I am not saying DL is a bad GM, but definitely overrated by his track record.

Only mistake of DL this offseason is giving up 42nd pick for securing Bradley. Which is not even that big of a deal.
So stop whining, you have one of the best GMs in whole league fighting through all kinds of adversaries
