trailer looked meh
Is a movie of The Silmarillion next?
'I thought the trailer was awesome. It shows just enough to pique your interest and set the tone without giving away the entire story line. I don't want to see what the trolls, goblins, wargs, elves, Beorn and Smaug look like until I watch the movie. The Hobbit has a different feel to it than LOTR and I'm hopeful Jackson didn't simply regurgitate the creatures from LOTR and plug them into The Hobbit. I want a different look to all the above mentioned creatures.
I haven't read the book, but I am very interested in the movie. I loved the LOTR movies and then I read the books and I'm glad I didn't read them first or I never would have seen the movies. They were painful and a chore to plow through.

I thought The Hobbit was one of those books they make you read in High School at some point.
The Hobbit is much faster paced than the LOTR books. Less history, and more action.
You really should try this book, even if you didn't like the LOTR books you will probably like the Hobbit.
