What's new

"The Jazz are bound to shoot [Milos] Teodosic an offer sheet."

A Teo/Gobert PNR with Hood/Hayward/JJ on the court is basically unstoppable offensively. That **** would be nastier than German porn.

And yes, I understand there would be holes defensively, but that unit is still a huge net positive. Rudy with 4 pre-teens would be a top 15 defense still.

LMAO. I don't know about that. I just know if Quin coached him, and Quin wants him on our roster - that's good enough for me.

I'm not even sure Milos has made demands about starting, but you can certainly see him playing a combo guard role - especially if it were alongside George Hill. Time will tell, the summer has barely started and already it's exciting.

With his passing ability he is going to have easy lobs to Gobert if the D doesnt sink down to help, and if they do that Teo can throw pinpoint passes to the perimeter to whoever is left open. I dont think any team could stop it.

Please spare me the "It's just pre-season"

I didn't realize this game was 4 years ago and there was a lot of Martin, Pekovic, and Love on the floor... If he was still 26 he'd have a much better chance at being a decent bet, but at 30 getting his first NBA contract... I'm not sure that is the best idea.

I was talking to my European friend So-Crates Johnson, and he told me Teodosic was excellent. He's pretty sure that adding him to the roster would elevate the Jazz to "Great ones" status.

Not what I said jackass... I said I can't think of one... just one example where it has been successful. I'm not looking for the mean I'm looking for one damn outlier... ONE.

If your hypothesis is "Euro PGs who come to the NBA late are unsuccessful" then it is up to you to prove. How many "old PGs" been unsuccessful?

Do you think a 30 year old Tony Parker would have bombed in the NBA?

1- I named several... just this year several guys came over after euro league success and were not good. Satoransky, Delaney, and Rodriguez (who was okayish, but I wouldn't pay him what he got). In the past... Huertas and Prigioni (who were older) there was also Gal Mekel. Navarro was really a SG and he was okay but certainly not worth the mid-level exception.

Prigioni was the most successful, but he's a pretty good defender and was also on super cheap deals... he would not have been worth the MLE. If we got Teo on a reduced salary then hells yeah let's do it.

2- I also believe there is a reason the guys that came over young have been successful... because they are much more talented. It's part of the reason college seniors aren't always the best bets in the NBA. Parker never would have lasted in europe until 30 because he was too good to ignore.

I'm not saying its not possible... Hell Teo may be the guy. I'm saying this is far from a no-brainer and that it's never been done with a great degree of success. Taking a gamble at what may be our biggest position of need with important cap space.

Add in that it usually takes euro players some time to adjust... they play far fewer games... and the guy is over 30.. he doesn't strike me as a role player type of personality. For BKN, Philly, or other teams with loads of space and a need to generate interest he could be a great signing. For us it's proceed with extreme caution.

Sabonis was the best center in Europe. Milos is the best point guard in Europe. He'll do fine. He won't be Chris Paul, but I think he will equal or more likely surpass the production of Shelvin Mack.

I would hope he would be better than shelvin. I don't think shelvin is worth the money being talked about for Milos though.

Would you give mack 3 years 24 M

Locke brought up one scenario... we have excess cap space we could use on an international player that would serve as a signing bonus. We could sign him to a 2 year 11m deal and give him a 7M bonus for last year that doesn't affect our situation next year. So if a scenario like that comes up then sure let's try it out... much less risky than 3/24-30. And much more tradeable/stretchable if it fails in some form or fashion. Could also do like 9 M bonus... 8 M next year and a mutual opt out for the following year to protect everyone. One year 17 M guaranteed? Tough to pass up and Europe would be waiting for him if he flamed out.

That's not a bad idea at all IMO. Though Locke seemed to be hinting towards someone who would entice Hayward to sign with Utah. I seem to recall he mentioned Damian Lillard, Ricky Rubio and Goran Dragic as possibilities. For the purposes of attracting Hayward, I'm not sure that Milos is that guy. Then again, maybe he is. Who knows?

I could see all of those other guys being possibilities but how would Lillard be a possibility?
