What's new

The Jazz are trading D-Will to New Jersey!?

That isn't enough for Deron. Should get more than that. I could see it if it brought back Lopez from NJ. Favors is not all that, really a similar player to AJ. Harris for PG? So we got a mediocre player and a mediocre player for an all-star? Not worth it.

Harris more than mediocre. Favors can be an All Star. Will probably get top 11 pick this year and possible lottery pick next year. Obviously a lot of the trade depends on how good Favors can be.

Harris goes 15 and 8 in 30, it's not like he can't play. He's not mediocre. He's a mediocre shooter(only a couple clips below D-Will really), that's about it.

You know what? **** it. Trade him. This team has become unwatchable anyway. They are going nowhere but backwards. Have been all season. This will breath new life into me as a fan.

This may have nothing to do with Sloan vs. Deron. After losing Sloan and this losing streak, maybe Jazz brass decided it's time to try the rebuild thing for real.

What the hell is Deron really doing for the Jazz anyway? He's a great player, but he isn't bringing the least bit of cohesion like a leader should. Let the trade go. They may be better without a star anyway. Same goes for Denver.

My only question is why no salary dump? Make them bring another team in to take AK or Memo.

One last thing. That 41-41 year was exciting as hell to watch as a Jazz fan. The underdogs played hard and upset some good teams. This team plays weak and gets upset night in and night out.

Pretty hard to bring cohesion when the pieces are moving all around you all the time. Oh well, it's done.

I dont know what to think at this point...life goes on.

Where does Favors play? Off the bench? Did we get better? I dont think so.

Even if we get high picks. This trade is horrible. Harris is a role player. Favors has literally done nothing. In NCAA or NBA. Yes, he is young, but he has no accomplishments. Even Hayward who is also very young accomplished more than Favors at the same point in time. We just lost top PG in NBA, the only star we have on the roster... for really not that much. Harris is a good player, but ... he is nothing compared to Deron. Favors is just nothing. Picks are a crap shot. And in the best case scenario you might get someone like Deron. This is a horrible trade, all around.

I'll say it again. Harris is NOT a role player.

With Big Al on the team I say package Favors for a team who gives a damn about him.

dammit... i went from calling Boozer our answer to Malone to 'Loozer' & now Deron our stronger version of Stock to 'that whiny bitch'... i hate what the NBA has become

I can't see this being the only trade they make. It does nothing to help us really. Favors may have potential but we have been there before (CJ) and how did that pan out? Harris is ok, but not much more than a mid-level PG. Picks, well we have had plenty of threads about that, they are like a box of chocolates mister gump, you never know what you're gonna git.

So unless we turn something else we in essence go some dubious pseudo-asset (picks) and 1 role player, and one "might, could, maybe, some day, with enough playing time, possibly" decent player.

All that for an all-star.

Wow, what a steal!

Not sure if it has been posted but the two picks are New Jersey's 2011 first round pick, and Golden State's 1st round pick next year (protected 1-9?).

I agree with this. The Jazz have gambled on some players for the past few years... every team does. Sometimes it works out, often it doesn't. There is only one Champion each year, meaning it usually doesn't.

It takes guts to say, we have backed ourselves into a corner with contracts for players that didn't pan out, (including DWill in my opinion).

The team can only be fixed with some bold moves. Here is the first.

Have no idea who Luhm's "trusted source" is, could just be a Jazz Dancer, but from his Twitter: "One trusted source last week told me Deron was in 'a league of his own' as far as creating problems for coaches, within the team."

I'd be surprised if we don't move Favors, too. But then I'm pretty freaking floored by this move. Wow. I take back everything I said about the FO being cautious. I'm not exactly excited by the move, but I've got to say they've got some balls to do this. Favors for Curry?

Best move since Hitler invaded Russia.

What I find hard to swallow is that they made this "great move" on the eve of a new collective bargaining agreement.

The Jazz were going to lose D-Will anyway. If they didn't trade him now and there is a lock out, what do they do then? I agree that the Jazz didn't get even close to the same value, but this was a move that needed to happen in my opinion. This lineup was not going to get it done.

And how do you know we were going to lose him? Maybe he would sign extension. And if he does not sign, then we can try to trade him a year from now. Why do it now? It's not like we got some great package that we can't refuse. At least if Nets could draft decently, and got someone like Cousins. But Favors! The guy who has no accomplishments at all. Right now we are not even sure if he can be a decent back-up in NBA long term, not even talking about being a star. Wow, did we get raped in this trade or what?

not going to be garbage forever. but bad right now.

He's not bad right now - he's 19.

Favors went to the wrong college (Ga Tech) because he's from the Atlanta area. He basically wasted a year in the wrong system.

As for this year, Humpheries is getting minutes because the guy has turned into a rebounding machine.

Make no mistake, this kid has all the tools, is an athletic freak and from what I've heard a good kid - there's no such thing as a "can't miss" but he will at least be a solid player in this league and quite possibly and all-star.
