What's new

The Jazz are trading D-Will to New Jersey!?

I'm literally dumbfounded. Just for the record

Al Jefferson is now the best player on a team, that when you add up the aggregate talent is worse than the last team Al Jefferson was the best player on.

Nets are sitting on 6th worst record right now. That plus Golden State's pick could be parlayed into a higher pick... although the draft is rumored to suck this year.

Deron changed as soon as the label "greatest point guard in the NBA" started being thrown around. It's been tough to see. He was better with a chip on his shoulder. I hope he has an incredibly successful career and wish him nothing but the best.

And how do you know we were going to lose him? Maybe he would sign extension. And if he does not sign, then we can try to trade him a year from now. Why do it now? It's not like we got some great package that we can't refuse. At least if Nets could draft decently, and got someone like Cousins. But Favors! The guy who has no accomplishments at all. Right now we are not even sure if he can be a decent back-up in NBA long term, not even talking about being a star. Wow, did we get raped in this trade or what?

you sound like Cavs fans who did not want to trade james. All they got out of it was a trade exception. We did not want to go down the same road.

So are you saying Harris has not helped them win?

My biggest complaint: Memo isn't on his way out. That should have been a requirement in any Deron trade.

He's not bad right now - he's 19.

Favors went to the wrong college (Ga Tech) because he's from the Atlanta area. He basically wasted a year in the wrong system.

As for this year, Humpheries is getting minutes because the guy has turned into a rebounding machine.

Make no mistake, this kid has all the tools, is an athletic freak and from what I've heard a good kid - there's no such thing as a "can't miss" but he will at least be a solid player in this league and quite possibly and all-star.

I don't like excuses of player not playing well because of wrong system. He played like crap in NCAA, and it has as much to do with him as with the system. He may be athletic, but he has no accomplishments. He will be 20 this year, and it is young, but as I said, I first want to see him prove he can be a solid back-up, before we start thinking all-star.

Feeling stunned.... not sure yet if I like the trade or hate the trade.

I don't think this has been mentioned in this thread yet, but in addition to the draft picks, one report said the Jazz pocket $3 million cash.

We officially have CJ Miles on the record with a response: "WOOOOOOOW that's all I can say"

This makes me think of all the rumors that there were deals that did not go down so that we could keep D Wills "posse" in town. If so wow were we the chumps.

https://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/netsblog/the_breakdown_of_the_picks_for_marcus_QVIdJbiRxApwcoJtQ39XCO

"The Nets would receive Golden state's first rounder in either 2012, '13 or 14. The first rounder is protected 1 through 7 in both 2012 and 2013, protected 1 through 6 in 2014. If the Warriors still stink worse than the American League Central in 2014, then the Nets would get two second rounders: in 2014 and 2016. That’s in addition to a second rounder in 2011."

Pick converting to 3 2nd rounders sucks hard.

Golden State is improving. We'll get middle first out of it. But 80 percent of middle firsts are role players to busts so there's no sense getting excited about that.

good thing my heart condition is great... this is SHOCKING!! i woke up going through Twitter and people were talking about DWill.. I was like what's going on???

i guess this has to do with the management not liking what he did to Sloan. at the end of the day, this may put us in a position to receive more talents to fill more holes in the future.

Sounds like D-Will is NOT happy with this trade.

All I can say is, Greg and KOC better have been 99% certain that Williams wasn't going to re-sign with Utah. Because if he was planning on signing an extension with us and they still dumped him...wow.

Or maybe I sound like Miami fan who did not want to trade Wade, OKC fan who did not want to trade Durant. We didn't even offer DWill an extension! You comparison is ludicrous.

Our poor team has to be feeling dizzy! Corbin has quite a lot to deal with his first weeks as a head coach. I don't envy him.

100% agree.

So the picks are protected, basically guaranteeing that they will suck.

ESPN reported that the Jazz will get NJ's #1 this year and GS's #1 next year, they didn't mention anything about protection. In the message a couple of posts above, there is still no mention of lottery protection for the Nets' pick and only says that it is likely the GS pick is protected.

Durant was always clear he wanted to stay with okc.
