And how do you know we were going to lose him? Maybe he would sign extension. And if he does not sign, then we can try to trade him a year from now. Why do it now? It's not like we got some great package that we can't refuse. At least if Nets could draft decently, and got someone like Cousins. But Favors! The guy who has no accomplishments at all. Right now we are not even sure if he can be a decent back-up in NBA long term, not even talking about being a star. Wow, did we get raped in this trade or what?
Nets are sitting on 6th worst record right now. That plus Golden State's pick could be parlayed into a higher pick... although the draft is rumored to suck this year.
He's not bad right now - he's 19.
Favors went to the wrong college (Ga Tech) because he's from the Atlanta area. He basically wasted a year in the wrong system.
As for this year, Humpheries is getting minutes because the guy has turned into a rebounding machine.
Make no mistake, this kid has all the tools, is an athletic freak and from what I've heard a good kid - there's no such thing as a "can't miss" but he will at least be a solid player in this league and quite possibly and all-star.
We officially have CJ Miles on the record with a response: "WOOOOOOOW that's all I can say"

"The Nets would receive Golden state's first rounder in either 2012, '13 or 14. The first rounder is protected 1 through 7 in both 2012 and 2013, protected 1 through 6 in 2014. If the Warriors still stink worse than the American League Central in 2014, then the Nets would get two second rounders: in 2014 and 2016. That’s in addition to a second rounder in 2011."
Pick converting to 3 2nd rounders sucks hard.
you sound like Cavs fans who did not want to trade james. All they got out of it was a trade exception. We did not want to go down the same road.
All I can say is, Greg and KOC better have been 99% certain that Williams wasn't going to re-sign with Utah. Because if he was planning on signing an extension with us and they still dumped him...wow.
And 1320 KFAN's David Locke, who is with the team in Dallas as the Jazz prepare for tonight's game against the Mavericks, reported that Williams told him the trade is a done deal. Williams was saying his good-byes to teammates as the team bus was leaving for morning shootaround.
So the picks are protected, basically guaranteeing that they will suck.
Or maybe I sound like Miami fan who did not want to trade Wade, OKC fan who did not want to trade Durant. We didn't even offer DWill an extension! You comparison is ludicrous.
Feeling stunned.... not sure yet if I like the trade or hate the trade.
I don't think this has been mentioned in this thread yet, but in addition to the draft picks, one report said the Jazz pocket $3 million cash.
