I'm surprised by how much AJJ is bothering SGA.
Some teams just can't handle the pressure of playing for the NBA Cup.OKC shooting 15% at 3, very unusual ! If they don't shoot better Bucks will get the cup.
Really stupid that hte NBA wants to push this Cup thing and you cant even watch it on LP. And people wonder why ratings suck.
The fact that they have come up with this stupid cup thing and the monumentally terrible changes to the all-star game they have made show you the product has problems. IMO it has become far too player-centric and not enough focus on the teams as a unifying factor. We have always had favorite players and it has always been a star's league, but team loyalty mattered as did rivalries, which are things that really bring the fandom together. We have drifted away from that and this is the result, trying to find a way to keep the fans engaged. If they cannot find a way to improve team loyalty over player loyalty it will continue to slide. I expect we will see another pretty big drop, relatively speaking, in viewership and fan engagement when the current crop of super-stars leave the league. LeBron, KD, Steph, et al retiring will push a lot of fans out. This trend will just continue if they cannot find a way to get fans more interested and invested in teams than players, or at least balance the scales.Really stupid that hte NBA wants to push this Cup thing and you cant even watch it on LP. So well said. Just a few adds of why the product has problems. The combination of the number of teams tanking combined with load management logic greatly reduces the number of games worth watching. Why waste time watching games when you have teams who dont want to win or have the players you want to watch sitting out? Also, basketball is a team sport and much more entertaining to watch when it is played 5 on 5 instead of 5 different players who want to play one on one.. Finally, owners who are much more about themselves than making about it the community and the fans. I miss Gail Miller. The fact that they have come up with this stupid cup thing and the monumentally terrible changes to the all-star game they have made show you the product has problems.
