The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Wow. Jazz have a chance at being within one game of the Warriors after tonight. The Warriors have two more sets of back-to-backs after tonight as well, so they may rest players on the second night of those too.

That would require us to beat a good team... which we aren't great at... so I'm just happy we won't lose ground.

So Ja is having an MRI on his knee... between that and the steph stuff it really kinda pisses me off that we had some really bad casual collapses. If we can somehow manage to get to the 3 seed we may have about as good a route to the western conference finals as possible. A hobbled Denver or Young Minny team and then a Ja-less memphis or Clips/Denver/Minny.

I cannot believe the Warriors won at Miami without Steph, Klay, Green and OPJ. I didn't see that coming at all.

Wasn't sure where to post this.

Utah should be punished if they want to join the sewer states that are passing discriminatory **** for the purpose of showing how ****ing cruel and hateful they are. Utah is conservative, yes. Utah is a state that is more religious than most. Yet, this is a state that has been better than the worst of the worst sewer states in the bible belt that are just disgusting. Don't let this be a transition to Mormons being as disgusting as Baptists and Evangelicals. I've always taken some pride in the dignity and respectfulness of LDS people even if I seem very anti-LDS here. I've always felt that LDS people have been more true to their teachings and the core principles of their faith than the religions that turn to hate and discrimination. I hope that isn't ending.

For @infection.

Dunn's been playing pretty well for the Blazers, averaging 7 points. 5 assists and 2 steals a game, shooting 44% from the field but just 25% from 3.

Yeah, that’s the problem. A PG shooting 25% from three would definitely never get minutes here because it would totally **** up what Quin wants to do with the offense.

If he shot 20%, on the other hand…

Nuggets lost to the Suns tonight. Even if they win the rest of their games, they can only finish with 51 wins. So it's highly unlikely they can catch the Jazz.

Nuggets had a fantastic shooting night, but gave up 140 pts to lose 140-130. If the Jazz match up with Denver in the POs, the Jazz should at least not be too disrupted on offense. That makes them a favorable matchup.

I remember when Royce O'Neale couldn't get playing time until his 3pt % was consistently above 36%. If Trent Forrest has the ball in his hands then he demands some defensive attention, but if he's off the ball he's pretty useless.

Nickeil is shooting 35% from 3pt in his last 4 games (6/17), despite going 0/6 against the Knicks. Defenses can't just ignore him.

Seriously the next time Forrest passes up a wide-open 3 with zero defenders within 8 feet just to drive right into the middle of the nearest cluster of defenders and then turn the ball over or take a heavily contested circus shot, he needs to immediately be benched. I know his 3 pt shot is ****, and he is afraid to shoot it, but he will never get any better at it running away from it. Look what happened to Simmons, he was so afraid of shooting he eventually was afraid of layups and it completely broke him. Forrest is nowhere near that caliber of player. He needs to take what the defense gives. Otherwise he is worse than useless for us. Especially when his vaunted defense has been barely passable at best, and frankly pretty bad for much of his PT over the last few games.

Again, WTF does Butler not play? Butler should play over Forrest in the rotation. Should be a given.

Memphis with a 25 point win over the Bucks tonight, despite not having Morant. The Grizzlies have the second-best record in the league, tons of young talent, and solid draft assets. Man, I'm jealous.

I think they're now like 17-2 without Ja this season. It's crazy.

The system. It will get us to statistical and regression analysis heaven.
