The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

So? Still a terrible fit and a bad use of assets. They can get someone else and be better for a cheaper cost

Do you understand what type of player RJ is? lol. It's not like you're replacing an amazing role player who fits the team perfectly. You're replacing a high usage, poor spacing, and terrible defender. Any weakness you think Mitchell has, RJ is much worse at it. Mitchell would perform the same role that RJ is playing a million times better, and if it was a RJ centric trade package they would have robbed the Jazz. RJ was heavily overvalued as a trade package. They will not get a better player than Mitchell using the same package. There aren't many players better than Mitchell that could realistically be traded to begin with. As time goes on, the reality that RJ Barrett stinks on both sides of the floor becomes more apparent. Whatever the trade package was....Barrett was HIGHLY overrated in his value. It remains to be seen if the Knicks still have time to dupe a team and offload RJ, but that should be a focus for them going forward.

If the reports are true that the Jazz had a tone switch on RJ and were actually pushing for him to be in the deal....I'll say it again that was a massive bullet dodged. We would have gotten RJ/Fournier instead of Lauri/Sexton and half the picks. But hey, every team needs to dodge a bullet and get a little lucky. James Dolan of all people saved the Raps by vetoing a Kyle Lowry trade.

Jazz have lots of cap space this coming offseason. IQ is a guy that could be an interesting fit.

He's not a FA this summer, up for extension. The only way it happens is if he asks out....which isn't totally crazy because he's way too good to be coming off the bench. It's probably too late though. The Knicks have to know how good of a player they've got on their hands.

Never mind - he’s not a RFA until 24/25 off-season. Jazz could always look to take Fournier in a trade and ask for Quickley as the compensation. They’ll have the cap room to take both into space due to the Westbrook trade/buyout. If the Knicks think they can add a free agent themselves by clearing cap, I could see that as a possibility. Very remote though.

Naah they didn't want to include Quickley in the DM trade even.

But I think they do have a decission to make between Quickley and Brunson. Both are way too good to come off the bench and I don't think they fit on the court well at the same time. I'm sure Quickley wants to be the lead guy somewhere and if NYK stays with Brunson then its not unrealistic to think Quickley can be acquired in a trade. However the price might be steep...

Notable 2024 UFA guards (under the age of 30 at that point):
Jaylen Brown, Lonzo Ball, Dejounte Murray, Gary Trent Jr, Tyus Jones, Markelle Fultz

Notable 2024 RFA guards:
Anthony Edwards, Lamelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, Immanuel Quickley, Desmond Bane, Tyrese Maxey

Good names on both lists.. albeit the RFA list is always kinda pointless to stare at.

Brown can likely accept an extension once the new cba kicks in so I doubt he makes it to FA... sorry @YoungJefe

Dejounte is interesting... I like Tyus but not like a world beater. Both could be moved this offseason.

I could see a scenario where NY or Philly realizes they can't get the most out of Quickley/Maxey on the court because of the other players they have and they move him in a deal for a star (Zach lavine/Brad Beal?) and in that case Bulls and Wiz might prefer picks over the players (if they are doing a full tear down and rebuild) and we can operate as a third team. Might also just keep those guys.

So now Ja is being investigated as he may have brought the gun out of state. Apparently there is some stuff that could cost him like 50 games related to guns and bringing them to nba events. It would be way overkill but how effing dumb is this guy? He's going to cost himself millions to flash guns on the Insta? He needs someone smart in his circle that he will listen to.

Nah they are all encouraging him to be a gangsta. He's gonna end up flushing his career down the toilet if he isn't careful though. All it takes is deciding that some random guy disses him in some meaningless way so he pulls up in his Escalade to mete out street justice so he can stay manly in front of his "gang". So so so ****ing stupid. What a ****ing moron. Uneblievable.

If he brandishes his gun at the wrong dude, flushing his career down the toilet will be the least of his worries.

You are out of town and flashing a gun at a club on social media… just so dumb. How’s you get that gun… clearly brought it with you on the trip and to the game… it would be the dumbest long suspension and I’m sure the league and his legal team will work around it but just next level stupidity.
