What's new

The official "I Heart Gordon Hayward" Thread.

Gordon played Fabulous in Boston the other night, finishing with 19 points (8 of 14 from the field and 1 for 1 from 3 point land) 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. He seems to be getting more consistent. I'm thinking one of the primary reasons he did not have a huge impact on monday is becasue he was so tired after the 4 OT game in atlanta. Even if Gordon never becomes an all Star, I think he'll be a stud for the Jazz for years to come, or atleast that is my hope. It always seems that when we get excited about Hayward after he strings together a few good games, he tends to follow that up with sub par performances. that being said, his next step is consistency. I think he can do it. He competes, and in the parlance of Rudy Gay, "He's tough".

I like Gordon. He has made significant progress this season. This is the kind of progress we should have been seeing in CJ about 5 years ago. As Gordon's experience and confidence increase, he will be a nice player.

Hayward is a beast defender. One of the most under-rated shot blockers today. Anyone have a clip of his double block on the celtics?

Ok his blocks were chosen as the 1 play from nba.com. Skip to 2 minutes in. LOL at the comment "You can just see Hayward's frustration at 2:10
"Ok, blocked it, get the ball back.
Goddamnit team, do I gotta do it again""

Hayward's effort level has become high all the time he is on the court. That is what is making the biggest difference.

The blocks are just one of the reasons I like Gordon. Even on the nights when he struggles with his shot, he always seems to be doing something to contribute, whether it be with his passing, rebounding, defense or blocks, he always seems to bring his all to the court every night. He may not be a superstar, but he is pretty special.

First sports jersey I ever bought was a Gordon Hayward jersey. I just bought two pink ones for my girls last night.

So many people on this board underrate Gordon. Hayward is going to be our #1 option, but he will ultimately leave to Boston or Indiana. His Dad even told me as much as I sat next to him at a Butler game. When that happens, the Jazz will suck.

He'll be the best of the four IMO.
I'd put Favors there, but Favors has a really hard jump shot. Favors' shot is like watching someone who's been working out on wieghts shoot the ball.
Who knows though...even Burks is amazing. And Kanter has been impressive given his experience.

Playing church ball this year I wore # 20 instead of #12. First time I have not wore Stockton's # for as long as I can remember....... sorry John!

I couldn't agree more very underrated but, that goes with playing on a small market team sadly.

I am fine being under rated. Every year (almost) we read articles about the Jazz shocking "better" teams and turning heads.

I am already getting nervous that some of these older teams like Dallas, Boston and the Lakers are watching the Jazz young guns and they are licking their chops.

Would not say Durant is underrated, but your overall the point is valid. For the media really to pay attention to a player from a small market got be like Durant and even Love is starting to get some. Cant believe some poster on this board was questioning Love's "goodness" recently. My current hometown team actually drafted him and then also took Thabeet. What could have been :(

Gordon does pretty much everything and has a knack for filling up a stat sheet. Being from Small Town USA and from his demeanor, it doesn't seem like he would have a problem sticking around here for a long time. His toughness & attitude reminds me of Stockton. Just comes to work every day and probably doesn't realize how good he's going to be. He's just doing his job and loves the game, isn't into the lifestyle. Heck, after he signed his contract and bought a Honda Accord. He still eats at the Olive Garden & Subway.

Where does he sit on the White American Power Rankings? Obviously Love is #1 (and will probably hold this position for 10+ years), but where's Gordo on the list?
