**** THE OFFICIAL: Why Jazz Fanz should be EXCITED thread ****

I think Smart is overrated a bit. It is too early to tell because most of these players are running on high school hype but Wiggins/Randle/Parker are no-brainers. Then you have the Harrison twin/Exum/Gordon. I think the Jazz are going to get a very good player even if they don't make the top 5.

Agree.

I think Wiggins, Randle, and Parker are on a whole different level.
I need to see if Gordon has some good handles against better college defenders.
Like you said, Andrew Harrison and Dante Exum will likely go before Smart.. but regardless, someone gets pushed down.

There are players in the 20's that I like vs. a couple players that went top 10 in this past draft.

It wouldn't shock me if Charlotte makes the playoffs. Al isnt a bad player. Just not good in Utah or for what he is getting paid.

My point exactly. Jefferson is not terrible. He is capable of helping you win games. The problem the Jazz faced is that Jefferson's abilities were taken to the extreme. If Charlotte gets the same number of wins Utah did last year that is a 6 seed in the playoffs in the East.

So if Jazz have a chance to get an even better PG than Burke in 2014 what do they do?

I think that depends entirely on what we see out of Burke this year. We have a chance to essentially pick any position we want in this draft and it be arguably BPA.
If Burke shows signs of not being near elite (I think he'll be great), then I think you have to strongly consider a PG.

Is this upcoming draft you take BPA no matter what.

I know this gets old.. but what if Burke isn't showing he'll be as good as expected.. and let's say we're picking around 11.. and let's say majority believes the BPA is between a PG and SG.. with the SG thought to only slightly better. Which do you take?

Warriors pick will turn into #1, like Cleveland got a couple years ago. Our own pick will be #3, Wiggins and Randle. Jazzfanz explodes.

Take BPA. If there is no discernable difference then take BPA PON.

I take the one with the more promising character if he's not completely redundant in terms of skills he can offer to the surrounding pieces(For example everyone raving about Smove to the Pistons....They really lack outside shooting now. That's going to be a problem unless they add more high quality shooter. In this term Best Free Agent available isn't that smart as an analogy)

Holy Crap. Been Reeeeeeeeeeeal busy with work and the kid the last few days. Did I miss something huge?

Lol. I had to catch up on the mega trade thread for like two days before I understood the awesomeness of what has happened this summer in Jazz Land.

Some things I am excited about:

1. Is Trey Burke going to be the ROY?!?

2. The Eiffel Tower is my sneaky pick for awesome player from HotKKK's thread about sneaky pick for awesome players. I think in a couple years, he is gonna be good.

3. It seems to me that Greg Miller said to DL "do whatever it takes to get Jabari Parker on this team, we will make more money from mormons than any of my car dealerships ever will from that guy." If the Jazz get Parker and have a dynasty with him, Mormons everywhere will flip their ****. Guarantee there will be like 20 crappy mormon movies made about the guy taking early morning seminary classes, and loving basketball, struggling with the choice to not go on a mission, and finally deciding his mission was to finally bring a championship to Utah. The only thing that would make this better to crazy Mormon fans is if Jabari Parker baptized Karl Malone after perfecting the Hammer Dunk in summer 2014...

4. Best of all of this, my six week old son is going to watch the Jazz win multiple championships, and have the childhood NBA experience I should have had if Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwan would have been born at any other time in human history.

Congrats, again, bro!

Yes. Mail the ROY trophy to Burke. Neck and neck with Oladipo but Burke takes it.

How awesome is going to be when Steph Curry sprains his ankle 16 more times this preseason, and Iggy gets injured trying to pick up the slack? The Dubs banked their whole strategy on a glass ankle, and some worn out knees. Granted, Iggy's knees probably wore out because he plays the game the right way, and Steph Curry is awesome as hell. But when GS misses the playoffs and wins the lotto for us, I will not feel one bit sad for them...

Wow... what are the Hawks doing??? They're collecting all these mediocre talent just to make the playoffs it seems??? I thought they are going for a tank, but I guess I was wrong...

- Hawks improving

- GSW could slip back

Nothing is imminent between the Atlanta Hawks and Monta Ellis at this point, but the two sides are engaged in talks.
