The refs were cowards

They didn't call that second T on Dirk because they're afraid to throw him out, then they turn around and throw Derrick out for no reason. NBA basketball.

It was ****ty, but that's not why the Jazz lost. If anything, that kept the team (and the ESA) hungry.

Not necessarily, Millsap and Jefferson had to play most of the rest of the game because Favors was thrown out. They may had been more effective if they been able to get more rest.

The refs really sucked, but the mavericks played some great D on Paul (among others).

We missed Josh Howard tonight, needed to stop Marion...

In some ways I do believe this loss will make the team better...

Remember all those close wins we had at the beginning of last year? Look at where we ended up.

You learn from losses like this. It's better to get these losses out of the way early so we can continue to get better later in the year.

Amen.

The Jazz needed Favors. He was fired up and I've only seen him fired up once this whole season and that was the Portland game when he got 25 and 11.
Additionally, Milsap was a non-factor tonight so Favors would've been great.

Those technicals totally went the wrong way.
Dirk should've gotten that tech and that woudl've thrown him out.
Favors should NOT have gotten thrown out.

But hey, this Jazz team won't get any love from the refs until Tyrone's got more years on him.

That is right. Use this to learn from. Come back even better.

Just heard on TNT that if you throw the ball into the crowd, you get thrown out.

Probably implemented after Metta World Peace charged the stands and caused a Mega Arena Riot

Jazz still need shooters. Howard would have helped with his defense and toughness.

Gordon had several shoots rim out. However, I liked his aggressiveness talking the ball to the basket. Devin Harris should not have taken the last shot. The game was really lost in the second quarter when the Jazz started chucking from outside. I loved the effort and hopefully they learn from this loss.

Refs were not great but there were many other factors which killed us. Kid is old and slow, but boy can he slice the defense with passing. Hayward's pathetic defense on Marion. Beaubois speed. And at the end Mavericks experience beat youth.

Sorry, its hard to take this comment seriously when Kidd's several turnovers probably kept us in the game in the first place.

those were all good good open shots, they just kept missing them]

What's funny is that most of us thought that Hayward could shoot.

He can't.

What's funny is that most of us thought he couldn't defend or jump.

He can.

I feel like I'm in bizarro jazz nation right now.

Harris for some reason can't drive past old dudes (kidd and fisher), Al actually had one of the sweetest passes I've seen all year to Millsap, the most quiet guy on our team (Favors) got ejected, and Hayward is missing wide open jumpers but throwing down some incredible dunks.

On top of that, some 6 foot french dude almost threw down one of the sickest dunks I've seen in a long time. A frenchie showing some courage?

What the heck?

The refs usually suck, and tonight was no different. They did make some bad calls against us, but that wasn't the reason we lost. The Mavs came in off a back to back and won that game really in the 1st half. Took the wind out of our sails really. We gave it a nice run to try, and come back in the 3rd. The Mavs were in control from the start, and they finished.

Give them props, and move on to the next one.

Did you watch the first half? He run passing clinic building that double digit lead ( 9 assists in first half). Yes, in the second half he turned to ball over and that helped Jazz to come back but to deny his influence in Mavs win is absurd.

This^ is all you need to know. Great post.

The refs weren't the reason we lost. But what they did tonight irks me way more than bad calls. They chose not to call a T on Dirk because it would have ejected him from the game, then they turn around and toss Favors out.

It's ******** at the dirtiest level.

But to be very honest Favors threw the ball into stands with excessive force risking injury to fans - so going by the official rules it was deserved ejection. Not so sure about Dirk, yes he slapped the ball out of Favors hands but that was after the whistle and Favors was kind of delaying game, not sure it really should have been a technical.
