The Ridiculous Speculation about the Hayward Sign and Trade

Not even that. It should be a S&T with 2nds. Jazz get a TPE. But that ain't happening. Ainge is an ******* and wouldn't even kick an errant quarter over to a quadriplegic.

Also, them clearing the needed space gives Hayward nothing to hide behind. Either he and his agent really are willing to do a sign and trade and the Jazz give up a 2nd round pick and NWG or the rights to Tomic and get back one of the guys the Celtics were going to cut anyways and the trade exception. There's really no reason to not do the S&T unless he wants to look even more like a petty *******.

So you're saying if we sign an all star from another team we should s&t with them and give them Hood because there's no reason not to?

This whole concept just reeks of our culture thinking they should get something for free just because they want it

No, he's saying that Hay did not show any respect to the Jazz, like for instance CP3 did by helping arrange a S & T for the Clips when he also could've just walked. In other words, Hay basically just flipped us the bird.

Chris Paul arranged a sign and trade because it's the only way he could get to the rockets not to help the clips out

That's obviously not what I said. Why are Jazzfanz so obtuse? What I said, was that without the pressure of creating the necessary cap space, the Jazz and Celtics could work out a minor trade for minimal assets that would benefit both teams without having to negotiate more complicated deal including any of Crowder, Smart or Bradley.

Hayward and his agent have both said that they're open to the idea. Which leaves the details to be hammered out between the two teams. Do that, and the Jazz get the exception. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Also, I clearly think that the Jazz should give the Celtics something for the trade exception. Standard compensation for a move like that has typically been a future 2nd round pick.

If it's seconds or minor assets I can agree with you. There's still not much incentive for Boston but could be a good faith gesture. I just figured it was for one of the players they are expected to get rid of and missed the cut portion of your post.

Then the question becomes do we really care about the trade exception if that's all we are getting? If we were to get a quality player then we would likely put it to use for a rental to see what kind of noise we could make but without an additional player do we really want to use it to be better short term?

How often does a TE actually lead to a long term quality player? Seems you just get to take one on short term in a salary dump for a team not competing or to appease a good player that's about to leave cause the team sucks.

The Jazz have used trade exceptions to acquire Mo Williams and Al Jefferson in the past. You never know who might come available. Having the flexibility to make a deal without sending out salary is much better than not having it. These kind of deals are fairly commonplace. I don't think that it's Boston gifting the Jazz anything tbh.

Too bad we didn't have such leverage, but if Hay had any respect for the Jazz, he would've done the same. CP3 was an established star before he joined the Clips; he didn't owe them like Hay owed the Jazz.

Has Hayward officially signed his contract? Wondering what the holdup is if the moratorium ended yesterday. I guess until he officially signs, it's possible that the Jazz are still looking at some form of sign and trade.
