Romney and Huntsman have been left out of this poll for anti-biasing balance reasons.
The drawn-out reason is I want to know where this poll stands on an individual poster's political mindset, not their religious intuition.

The Golden Rule of this Poll
Do not vote for the Republican candidate you think has the best chance of losing to Obama. I'm using this poll to get an idea where the fence sitters will congregate to if given a choice.

This is an equal opportunity poll, where I would like to know the preferred GOP Nominee of both Dem's and Rep's. you know.... for the kids

You realize there's more members here anti Romney than pro, right?

The only reason I think leaving Romney out is silly is because he has a very real chance at the nomination. This could be viewed as the poll of also-rans.

Ron Paul is the only one I could stomach on that list, and even he has positions that I think are pretty damn nutty.

Actually if Gary Johnson, former Gov. of New Mexico, could somehow get nominated I would vote for him over Obama. He's the ideal mix of a fiscal conservative and a social liberal/libertarian, although not 100% of what I believe in (though who is). But the social conservative element of the Republican party would never allow him to be nominated.

I'm no Romney fan, but he wouldn't sicken me like many of the names on that poll.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a chance... because he does. I just didnt want the poll skewed to his favor, because that tells me nothing I want to know. I want to know out of the given candidates... who attracts cons and who attracts libs... and I wanted to see who the mormon plurality of this board would choose if not given the option of the token mormons.

And I picked the 5 noms who did the best in the ames straw poll... and I know that means nothing, but its a place to start

Highly doubt it...

I know romney is a legitimate candidate, I just wanted to get a gist of where lines would be draw with the given candidates. Leaving him out was nothing against him...

Is there an option for all candidates from both parties utterly suck and that our country is royally f'ed?

Why is it in a country of so many smart people we only have dumbasses available to vote in for President?

Seriously, there's a few people on this board that I'd vote in for President over the current pool. And what's sad, is that I'm not even joking...

I wouldn't vote for any of those candidates under any circumstance.

Ron Paul is probably the least cynical of the bunch so I find him the least objectionable but this is basically like making me pick my favorite Laker.

Isn't it funny how a couple of these guys that are the furthest thing away from being Ron Paul (Ginrich and Perry) are sounding a lot like him now? I wonder if they might be running for that exact reason....hmmmmmm. The establishment's Ron Paul. You know, not really like him, but just like him until they become president and then they do the normal president thing.

I'll make a prediction, if those two, which Ginrich seems like a flop already hence the need to roll out Perry at this point, aren't able to steal Paul's thunder, Mr. Trump will come rolling in as either an Independent(later) or Republican(sooner) to do exactly that.

Who would you prefer?

He's staunchly conservative, as opposed to Romney who is going to have to explain away his healthcare bill in Mass. He's got a record that includes growing jobs in Texas while other states were losing jobs, and he certainly looks the part. He's also a man, and to this point he's untested. He's pretty much skated through the past few months unscathed while other candidates have been taking beatings.

The problem with perry is that the jobs he's created are usually well below livable wages (think fast-food jobs) or by allowing companies to operate with very few regulations in either pollution or safety, therefore you have dangerous companies moving out of other states, and into Texas so they can practice sub standard business.

He has a ton of momentum though, and he's a super-Christian, so he'll appeal to the very far right.

He's going to be a force to be reckoned with.
