What's new

Things your significant other does that drives you cray

Overspend.

Only my salary goes into our joint account. I have to remind my wife to put in $1,500 every two weeks (3K a month)...

So what the **** is she doing with the other $3,600 she's netting a month?

Told her today she's switching her direct deposit to our account. The amount that we save is decent but to me it's pitiful based on our combined income.

Outside of looking cool and towing, minivans are way better. Better MPG, better storage, easier to get in and out of, built for functionality not coolness. Took a minivan on a road trip and was converted to how great it would be to have one. Still have an SUV because I'm prideful as fuh.

Better storage????

I have an excursion and an escalade esv. No way any minivan has close to the storage. I can fit 8 adults and 6 full size suitcases.

Everyone hold hands and pray for cunning.

What I want to say here would certainly warrant me a second warning... Damn!

SUVs that seat 8 are glorified minivans. People have them for the same reasons, but people who drive the huge SUVs are generally simply trying to compensate, where people with minivans just don't give a crap.

Or...

My SUV's are four-wheel drive, have clearance, and can pull large loads.

Mini-vans are for people who either haven't the need or the financial ability for these things.

Sorry, better storage and can still fit in a parking stall and in a single lane on the freeway.

Her money is her money and your money is both of your money but mainly hers in reality. I have the same problem with mine.

I gotta say I love that about my wife. She doesn't care about the money at all. She isn't even on the bank account. Doesn't have or want a credit card or debit card. Just asks for money and I give it to her as needed. I bought her a car and she doesn't care that I didn't consult her. I bought a house without her having seen it.

She's cool like that.

Other things, not so much.

Holy ****. This.

My wife just bought a new car. We used most of our joint savings money (80% of which I deposited), pls 5000 from my personal savings (pretty much wiped me out) and 1500 from her savings as a down payment.

We only had to borrow 3000 from the bank after how much we put down (we also put the money we received when we sold her old car down too) and I wanted to get it paid off asap cause I HATE paying interest.
So I start working tons of overtime and not spending at all (other than bills) while she continues to spend on other unnecessary things that could wait ($90 haircuts, expensive *** rubber mulch, etc) and she quit her job and got a new job that is only 20 hours per week (we don't have kids either)
Now today I'm going to pay the rest of the car off myself from all the money I made working extra hours.

No, I'm not working til I'm 70 because she's a moron financially. I'm not sure when this, "Welp, my wife rules the henhouse" mentality came to be, and I'm certainly not saying I rule mine with an iron fist, but Jesus, it's called being a responsible adult. Especially when we talk about upgrading our house and this and that. Unless we take steps financially, all that talk is just that, talk.

I'd like to start investing money wisely for our retirements. We have pensions and she has a 401K but still. I want to save money for college for our kids. That should could cost us a cool million by the time that comes around. I want money in case of home or medical emergencies. **** can get expensive. This isn't a criticism of you but I think our people in this country are in for a really, really rude awakening in the next 20-40 years. They consume, consume and consume and go further in debt but I'm not sure how many really save and save enough to live relatively comfortably after the age of 60.

This would infuriate me.
