What's new

This may not warrant its own thread.....

This is NOT a list of homerun hires, but guys I would look at when replacing Ty.

Sean Miller - Helluva coach, very bright future.
Thad Matta - Great coach.
Bob Huggins - VERY underrated and would remind everyone of Majerus R.I.P.
Jim Larranaga - UNderrated
Shaka Smart - young upcoming coach that would be fun to have running the team.
Jay Wright - Looks the part. haha

Sean Miller and Bob Huggins really, really intrigue me. Forgot about Huggins. Great coach.

Because he has 0 respect for management and actually dislikes Gar Forman? And because that team might be well on it's way to falling apart?

Sorry but I don't buy them falling apart until there's actual action done in that direction. The Bulls management is ultra conservative and their understanding is that continuity wins championship. They'll hold on to Derrick until he's proven in one way or another that he can't play any longer. They actually have only the merits of trading one of their core guys if they get potentially high draftpicks that are unprotected in return. I doubt that this year's bottom 10 teams would be willing to part with their stock share. I mean there's a reason these teams are bottom 10, and getting one guy in his prime paired with 10 other early twenty guys is a move only Cleveland could pull.
If I was Chicago I'd totally tank right now, because getting another top10 pick would be insurance in case that Derrick doesn't return and in case he does it would give them a more perfect team composition with a secondary ball handler.
The truth is I'd have no clue how to restructure that roster successfully. That's super hard. With Noah being injured way too often, GIbson being a valuable PF/C, Mirotic as stretch 4 incoming that's tough to deal. You could do sth like Boozer for Asik + Lin. But Reinsdorf will nix that because both Asik and Lin are owed $15M next year with a cap hit of $8.3M each. Houston doesn't have other assets to add to that that can't be had in other ways as well other than Parsons and they're not going to part with him. Chicago needs a trade exception to make an offer for Mirotic and that they're only trying to get after FA opens next summer because it expires 1 year after and they need it for both summers as it's tough to predict how buyout will be going(he's under contract until 2016). Then again I don't know about opt out and buy out clauses or if they are negotiable. With Mirotic and Gibson being locked in they'd probably be interested in a low post presence at whatever position while keeping a spot open for Rose. That's super tough to pull off and that's why I wouldn't speculate about their possibilities until they make the first move. After that it's not that wide open.
If Thibs wants out it's not going to happen until the Jazz actually have the #1 pick that's my best guess. And even then it's not clear if the Bulls would allow that to happen depending on their strategy.

Great thread PKM. The board was starving for positive energy.

Here is what I would do after reading the thread:

1. Draft one of the top three
2. Trade for embiid
3. Hire thibbs, that is really the only established guy I like. If not him, then a young guy.
4. Keep whoever is left out of favors, Hayward, Burke, kanter, gobert and maybe Marvin.

but what an ideal time AND situation to blow a team completely up.

Center your team around the future.. Jabari or Wiggins. Shed the dead weight wannabe core for another top 10 pick (cheaper replacement of an equal player, imo), and go after two studs in FA or via trade.

Two points: (1) If it works as well as the Sixers/ Suns blowup, we migh wind up winning. (2) even with worst record, you have <50% shot at Jabari/ Wiggins assuming they go 1/2.

I have always liked nate mcmillan

Guy i want most would be coach K though..... That would be the homerun that pkm is talking about.

Jason kidd = a bunt

Kanter is a goner.

Anyone think Denver would send us the New York Knicks pick for Alec?

--me neither.

I wouldn't write off a 21 year old. He's got time till restricted free agency to show that he belongs, otherwise he's gone. Or getting traded if FA feels that his value will sink further.

SA is out of assistant coaches and other unemployed dudes have either a playoff losing history or not even a regular season winning history there.

Look it up. Jerry Sloan was a losing head coach when he came to the Jazz. Now he will be in the hall of fame. We just need to find a guy headed in that direction and give him a ride.

Coach K = 0.0% chance.
