Lol, you guys should just close off this forum, and not let anyone else make an account.

You guys just hate new people way too much.

Just pullin yer chain bro. I am pretty new as well. People asked me if I was someone else when I posted. I didn't get it either.

So if that is the pattern we want to follow

We don't want to follow any pattern. Why not try sensible decisions. Should make no difference if they served as an assistant or not the question is, can they fulfill the functions of a head coach?

but what an ideal time AND situation to blow a team completely up.

With some nice trade pieces (Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks, Burke), a superstar pick, another potentially great pick, expirings, and a deep free agency, and almost undoubtedly a new coach..... we could see a blow up of epic proportions.

Probably won't happen because the FO might be concerned the casual fan saw it as nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction to an awful year, but think about this...

If you were a damn good coach and you knew the Jazz would give you MAJOR input (like call the shots).. the Jazz are looking stellar. Sounds crazy, I know... but an egomaniac sideline guru would eat this up.

Center your team around the future.. Jabari or Wiggins. Shed the dead weight wannabe core for another top 10 pick (cheaper replacement of an equal player, imo), and go after two studs in FA or via trade.

What I'm really getting at here is a coach... and all the possibilities a real stud would have at his disposal.

So who is it?

Top two veteran coaches IMO are George Karl and Lionel Hollins. I think that both guys would command enough respect that they'd turn the culture of the team around immediately (plus they've both proven that they have the clout to hire quality assistants.)

The young gun Dark-horse candidate for me is Shaka Smart. I'd LOVE to see the Jazz play some havoc defense. I personally think that he'd be exactly the kind of bad-***, out-of-the box hire that seems like Dennis Lindsey. I really like that he has a very high basketball IQ and I think his demeanor would really go over well in Utah. As much as I'd like to see a big-dawg (successful) veteran NBA coach, I'd be very on board with landing Smart.

Shaka Smart would be a great hire.
But didn't he turn down bigger schools to sign a long term contract with his school?
He seems like he loves where he's at right now.

Yeah, but like Brad Stevens, there's NBA opportunities that SHOULD be able to lure him away. The Jazz need to make a bold hire, and Shaka Smart would be bold. It will cost serious cash to nab him, but he seems exactly like the kind of guy that DL would be interested in. Young, ascending, aggressive, good defensive coach who plays at a fast pace, excels in transition and has a clear grasp on the value of efficiency. Pretty much the Anti-Corbin. That should be reason enough to make a real effort to get him. :D

Gotta think that a young roster, top pick in the best draft in years and a ton of flexibility cap-wise makes for an interesting opportunity.

Phil Jackson doesn't coach teams unless he has the best roster in the NBA.

Coach K would be awesome and I'm going to pretend for the rest of today that it's so crazy that it just might work.

Scott Layden is a name that intrigues me.

If I'm Dennis Lindsey I at least put some feelers out to Jim Boylen's agent.

Calhoun might be avail.

Srs tho, what coach would fit the bill here?

£¥£

Scott Layden? Why is he so intriguing? I think he is worse than Corbin. Coach K and Calhoun are not coming to the NBA. Calhoun is old and he may never coach again.

I really would like to hear these potential FAs that want to come to Utah along with these potential Trades that will make it appealing for a top notch coach to even want to come to Utah.

If you build a team the coaches will be knocking down the door. Unfortunately, our team Core5 pieces haven't performed consistently enough to warrant a high pick in the 2014 draft. Do you think any team would trade Favors for a top 5 pick? Why not just draft Embiid? He cost a lot less and has just as much potential as Favors and he plays center. Hayward has the most market value but he is a RFA so he would have to agree to a sign and trade. Teams are not going to rent him for a year. Burks is a major disappointment so we could trade him as part of a package or for another disappointing player. Kanter probably gets us a top 10 pick but not a top 5 so I wouldn't want to trade him. Burke hasn't even played much besides what is the market for him. What team really needs a PG who is all about potential and hasn't really shown he can be an NBA PG.

Now if GS goes in the tank and the pick is way better than anticipated and the Jazz get Wiggins/Parker/Randle then with the GS pick they get Young/Harrison/? Now you have a small piece but either these FAs or Trades have to end up being great or the Core5 players are going to need to get their stuff together.
