Ty is A problem - he is not THE problem. Ty can't make Hayward hit open shots. He can't make Kanter not set the same frickin' illegal screen 5000 times. He can't make Favors impose his will on the opposing team. He can't make Burks not pass up open 18 footers so he can attempt one of his highlight reel moves into the teeth of the defense. He can't make ANY of the Core players a primary option on offense when none of them appear to have the skill set.
This team needs work - getting rid of Ty is just the beginning.
with all due respect Candrew,
all those problems and shortcomings are closely related to the way this team is being coached.
Gordy Hayward himself told that he is not taking "his" shots but has to take those he is not comfortable with.
Kanter has some O but he is never given a chance to score in a game set-up designed specially for him.
Spacing in the O sux so Burke does not have the open looks he might have had in an alternate universe.
(I dare say even with Kanter and Marv, Jazz could have a better spacing than what they are having now.)
Jazz don't have focus players, i.e. go to guy players. Priorities should be set and it should be merit-oriented.
In such an environment, Jefferson cannot play more than 15mpg.
Marvin would not enjoy an untouchable status.
core of the core for me = Burks, Burke, Favors.
(I want to add Kanter to the list but he was rebounding badly when he was scroing well. Nowadays, it is just the opposite, still frustrating, but he is good. make no mistake.)
Kanter and Hayward support that "core of the core"; Evans and Gobert are the subs for PF/C, whereas Marv could be the 6th man.
Now, this may be a stupid plan and it probably is.
But at the end of the day it is a plan.
I don't think TyCo the Psycho has one!
