What's new

To the AK haters

Is that the only error you could find?

Funny, anytime I get into one of these spelling back-and-forths, I read and re-read my posts ... like a dozen times before hitting send. I'm like, "wait a minute, is 'trouble' spelled that way? I've looked at it so many times that I'm second-guessing myself."

Okay, I'm exaggerating, but I think we all due it.

;)

first of all, the quicker guys like derrick favors and enes kanter get to playoffs the better. almost nobody is successful at first in the playoffs, you have to lose to figure out how to win, and if some veteran players help the young guys get that experience, they'll be better in the long run.

second... people who think that AK's value is mininimum-to-3M are as crazy as the people who think his value in this market if 8-10M. in the supply and demand world of the NBA, AK's value will be set by what the majority of teams have available to offer -- the new MLE. wherever he signs, it will be for a contract starting around 5M.

finally, and here's my most important point: the AK of old is back. he's been terrorizing european basketball teams all summer, starting at eurobasket and then on into the CSKA season. look at his euroleague stats (13.8 ppg, 9 rpg, 3.4 apg, 2.2 spg, 3.2 bpg, all in just 30 mpg) and tell me the two-time eurobasket player of the week isn't completely reinvigorated right now. we would kill to have THAT andrei putting up those types of numbers this year, it would take the jazz to a whole different level. and that's after a 14.9/6.1/2.3/2.6/0.7 in 29 mpg performance at eurobasket that netted him an all-tournament selection.
Good post, except that a players value is not set by what the majority of teams think he is worth. If twenty seven teams think he is worth a buck twenty-five but one team thinks he is worth seventeen million, how much do you think he'll eventually sign for?

AKMVP of 2007 Eurosomething. He wasn't back to form back then, but he is NOW FOR SOME REASON.

lol, he was in great form all the time... but Jerry had no clue how to use him to his advantage. If AK would have stuck to his trade demand in 2007 he would have produced 2004-2006 numbers on other team without doubt. Just wait till he plays for team not named Jazz in NBA to prove you wrong.

AK is like a p.o.s. gf you know you should break up with, but she brings other talents to the table that make you second guess yourself. Let's all just man up and take a clean break from our russian princess.

Andrei Kirilenko sucks.

lol, I bet you where raving about AK in 2002-2003 same as you raving now about Hayward in... sad thing is Hayward will never be as good as AK so what you going to talk about Hayward after he is done playing for Jazz?

When AK stays in Russia, will you stop posting on JazzFanz? Just curious. You are obviously not a Jazz fan, but simply an AK homer.

Hayward worst shooting night>AKs best shooting night.

Sure, why we would want to win and get to playoffs now? Lets play young players and get another lottery pick which O'Connor will screw up anyway.
Yep, just like he has screwed up the Hayward, Kanter and Burks picks. And like he screwed up the Deron Williams pick. You can fault him for missing on Snyder and Humphries. Those were high enough that he should have gotten value. To his defense, I remember every draft expert giving Utah a grade in the range of B+ to A for those two selections. But any pick in the late teens through the end of the first is a total crap shoot.

What we should really do is criticize the hell out of the Jazz organization for giving a MAX deal to a player who was nowhere near that value, and who did not have bargaining power at the time. What they should have done is tell him to go out and prove he was worth the money; then the contract would follow. Who knows? Maybe a summer of actually working on his basketball skills instead of reading novels and playing video games would have made AK an elite player.

Would you care to compare AK's shooting stats in his rookie season against those of Hayward? Please, go ahead.

IMHO, he screwed up by not taking Chris Paul although I suspect Sloan had a lot to do with it as well. Hayward - jury still out. Kanter - again, I think there were better players available - will see how it will turn out. Point is - none of his picks from first round except Hayward who is still on rookie contract are with the Jazz - that tells he drafted poorly in first round, there is nothing to argue about it.

Hayward worst shooting night>AKs best shooting night.

that must be the most idiotic and bold statement. lets see...Hayward last season vs Oklahoma in March - 1-10 FG, 4-6 FT...I do not even need to look for AK games to show utter stupidity of this post.

So if you just curious why then making such accusations? To answer, no I will not stop posting.

Whether his picks are on the team or not is irrelevant to the quality of his picks. So your assumtion that because only one of his 1st round picks is on the team means he drafted poorly is utter BS.

The only high pick he has had to date turned into a player that was a 3rd pick, a decent Veteran PG, a 3rd pick this year and a potential lottery pick next year. The other picks this guy has had to work with were iffy spots to begin with and one of them (Hayward) actually looks like it could be a good pick as well.

I'll not judge Kanter or Burks yet as they have not played a single game.
